Recently purchased the game, and have spent a weekend running about Garendall exploring. While everything is highly enjoyable as it stands, I was surprised that there wasn't any background music throughout any of the scenes. Moreso when I checked the data folder and found a bunch of music files sitting there.
I've tried toggling music on and off, but so far have not succeeded in hearing anything other than the normal sound effects through the game. Is there something else that I need to do?

So you get all the other sound, and command M does not turn music on?
------------------ neee-wom!
Exactly. I've got all the sword swings, bird calls, etc, but no tunes. Command M at certain points will run the hard-drive a bit, but nothing ever comes of it. I was excited the first time I got to one of the swamps, when the background "music" changed, but I determined that it was actually just sounds, rather than music.
Any ideas?
Can you play the music files with itunes?

Well, don't know about itunes (sorry, bit of an older mac) but I can listen to the tunes with no problems with other 3rd party software. makes it even more infuriating, since i know someone's hard work is going unappreciated here...

Do you have the latest version of Quicktime installed?

Well, its 4 something or other...can't quite remember at the moment, but maybe I'm missing some certain component...and since my internet connection at home is hesitant at best, it seems that I won't be getting any sort of upgrades in the near future...ah the horror of inconsistent dialup access...
I got a similar thing with NO SOUND AT ALL under Mac OS X 10.1. I found that unless I was playing the game off the Disk Image or off a folder on the same partition as the OS I could not get sound within PoG.
I have the same problem in Mac OS X 10.0.4 but whenever I look at the sound volume it is turned off so I turn it back on and it works.

I'm sorry to bring up an old topic ,but I have a serious problem excactly like this: I hear all sound effects and in certain areas (plains of endless winds, once in a tomb and once in a swamp) i hear something like music, but it could be sound effects... i'm not sure. I heard the music when I had recently downloaded it, but now NOTHING! It REALLY annoys me because it makes the freaking game very boring and I know that PoG really is a great game... oh and I have tried the command M thing many times, but nothing happens. I have a recent version of quicktime, but i may have an old OS (9.04), but it worked before WHY NOT NOW??? i dont have iTunes however

Well, I remember for sure that plains of endless winds had no music. It was just a music track that had some wind on it. Some other places I believed had some sound effect ambient music. Does the music still play in places like in the forest, towns, etc.?

Mr. Drffat,
The first question I would ask is, what has changed with your system between when PoG worked and when it stopped working with sounds? Ie, have you updated the system at all, installed any new software, etc?
Next I would take a look at your system sounds settings. Make sure the speakers are set to play and the volume is up.
Finally I would download Cafall's (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/show.pl?product=pog&category;=addons&display;=rating&file;=Volume_Control_1.2.sit.zip")Volume Control 1.2(/url). Then using the controls make sure the music volume is set to 100% or around there.
My thinking is that somehow the music volume has been shut off. Speaking of which, do you have any plug-ins installed?
Try the above and let us know what you find.
Good luck.

Hmmmm... Try this: copy quicktime and drop a copy into the PoG folder. It appears that PoG is unable to locate, and therefore it has nothing to play the music with. Tell me if this works.

Simple question simple answer.. No

Well none that i know of really this machine is a shared one, but give me a day or 2 and I will find if some changes have been made and to find out how PoG music work on other computers
Originally posted by Stark Do you have any plug-ins installed? (/B)
I have Trinity, Spells expander (excellent plug-in by the way :D) special quest items, Sapphire and just recently volume control.
And finally Chaos: I don't quite understand what you mean. Did you mean that I could copy the qt. player or the whole folder into the PoG map? I tried both...none worked
I hope that this problem will be solved in time and that my answers was atleast some help. /Drffat
