Pers Resource help?

I've been slowly learning how to do plug ins and I recently started work on planet creation.. now I got the planet to work.. all the attachments including ships coming in and out of the system.. but I created a pers resource for a particular individual and no matter what I try I cant seem to get him to make an appearance..

I've tried setting his appearance value up to 100% I've even tried removing all other ships from the system I cant find a conflicting resource number.. but I must be missing something.. if anyone could give me the right area to look for I'd appreciate it..

do I have to create a Flet resource to associate with him? the bible doesnt seem to cover this..

any assistance appreciated..

I did that.. It didnt help.. he still wont show up.. I also put it in the actual pers file told it to only create him in that system.. and still no luck.. I cant figure out what I'm missing.. Now I did create a special ship for him could that be causing the problem?

Active on field is empty.. and the RID says that its coming up to the correct ship.. (you know how with the templates it brings up the name of the ship or system in some cases.. well it says the name of the ship.. and the graphic appears to be working..)

I get the graphic to show up in the ship resource window fine..

Are you testing this përs on an old pilot file? Because only përs that are present when the pilot file is created will be loaded into the game. You might try changing the RID to something that's already in the game, or try creating a new pilot.

I was not aware of that.. I guess that ought to answer that question then.. Ill check that out in a moment.. but I suspect you've hit the nail on the head so to speak..

is this a mission bit related thing? or what controls that? I tend to play with the same pilot over and over with just clearing the mbits every time I finish..

I believe he may be incorrect. Let me check...Yes, he is. But you may be able to set that or something. Or maybe you have a different version of Novatools...or maybe it's late at night there, as I realize it is.

Yeah it might be late.. but I'm a night owl..

actually it did work as soon as I made a new pilot the pers shows up just fine now.. although I'm still not able to make him use the quote resources that are stored in the str resource.. but I'm going to bed now so it will have to wait for tomorrow..

This issue (I don't know if I'd call it a bug) seems to be a carryover from EV and EVO. Pers's won't show up unless they existed when a pilot file was created. I remember creating a plug-in once called "Pers Fillers" that fixed this, though it was kind of pointless since people would have to keep it in their plug-ins folder always -- and it didn't work on pilot files already created.

Why is this nowhere in the Bible(Nova...Duh)? I think it actually says the opposite. I guess it's just a bug.

the quotes should work if you copy over hail and comm quotes from the nova files (ID's 7000 and 7001 i think) and then add a new feild and type your quote in.. then in the përs screen put the number of the feild, not the RID in the feild there.
