Hey!
I need some help here in creating a weapon, im 99% sure this can be done with the Nova engine, but I dont know how.
Right, lets assume that the ship this weapon is going to be on is given 3 fireing points for a beam in the shan resource. Now, assume the player is equiped with 3 of the beam weapons.
Now how can this be done: (worth noting the weapon is a point defense beam)
A fighter moves into range, the beam fires from the 1st point, and as soon as its burst ends, the second beam fires from the second point(no time delay between shots), then the 3rd succesivly (given that the target is still in range), assuming the 3rd burst has now finished, I want there to be a pause (say 3 seconds), while the 1st weapon of the 3 is still reloading, then the cycle continues.
Anyone know how to do this, I hope im making myself clear, if you need anything clarified, just ask.
best

Well, there have to be four exits for beams. You can make two of them have the same value, but it will screw up the firing sequence. I'm working on coming up with something like that for you, but no luck so far. I've gotten some interesting results, but nothing like what you're wanting. (yet)

Give the beam a reload delay the same duration as the beam's duration (meaning if the beam exists for 10 ticks, give it a reload of 10). Give the weapon a BurstCount of 3 (meaning it will fire three times before undergoing a burst reload) and BurstReload of however long you want the delay between the last shot and repeat to be (for three senconds, that's a value of 90).
As for having 3 exit points, as far as I know kbmeister is correct; you have to have 4, which would mess up the firing sequence. Experiment to try to find something that works pretty well.

Thanks..... Ill give it a shot (no punn intended)..
While Im on the subject can anyone help me work out ow to use the x,y,z co-ordinates in the shan resource for designatin weapon origins, I cant master it.
best.
I'd try putting the 3rd one in your center position (4th in 3rd) at the same place as your second, then give the whole thing a burstcount of 4. That way, it will do what you want, but will fire just a bit longer in the center, something that is perfectly understandable (I'd think) to the player. After all, we all know that weapons in the center must be more powerful ;).

Another thing, why cant I remove the beam which emits from the centre of the ship in the shan resource? - or cant it be done?
