Mission Concept Question

Right, Ill try and explain this without giving away too much, but I dont think thats possible 😉 here goes....

Okay, im writing a mission, and well, the player gets captured, transported to another planet, steals a shuttle. The player looses his/her ship, put in shuttle.

(a) Can I remove all the players current escorts?

(b) Asuming this happened reasonably far into the game, are people going to be very anoyed? - Uve not a nice little manticore and 6 pirate valks, and i take them all away from you?

I think this will add a lot of drama to my plot, but of course, given that the game saves when you blast off from the planet, the player is helpless, and basically looses their hard work.. (of course it all works out in the end) <cryptic grin>

People will be annoyed, but if there's a good reason for it, then I suppose it won't be so bad. Just as long as the player can get back all their old stuff (or at least an equivilant) quickly.

They permenently loose all their escorts (if this can be done)

Keep their credits

...and they do get re-enburst with a ship, of course, it may not be as good as the Heavy weapons platform pirate carrier they were flying before....

Can i remove the players 'carried' outfits too, such as cloaking devices etc?

There is a command to change the player's ship in a mission. For a Shutle, use H128 (I think. I'm just quoting the Nova Bible here, I've never done this.) The player will lose any nonpersistent items. Unfortunately, for those, you will need to use the Dxxx command for every single one of them! (Where 'xxx' is the ID of the outfit.) I have no idea about the escort thing. You might be able to fake it with a temporary massive sheild booster and a huge fleet, though. (Gxxx to grant an outfit.) To use those codes, type them in the same fields as a control bit would be, such as the 'OnAccept' feild.

Sounds fun, but greatly frustrating. Maybe it should be a cargo drone, as that would be funnier. Or you could use the Mxxx command to move the player to a new system, and say you stowed away on a freighter, or something. Just some ideas.

This sort of sounds like the ending to the Vellos story line. (at least in version 1.0 of the game)

You end up in a situation that is dramatic, leaves you with a ship that can't ever be upgraded.

Look at how people didn't like that. You may run into that kind of thing. Yes it works out in the end and you get a "super-duper" ship, but it isn't your baby

But you should already know this since you are creating a new mission for EVN.

I liked the Vell-os storyline a lot. Cool weapons, cool ship, cool story. I think if you make a plug-in that changes the player's ship against their will, you'll get a lot of people mad. Some people will like it though, IF it ends up nicely, and IF you warn them in the read-me file that it could happen.

I know of no good way to remove escorts.
