Random Galaxy Tool Screenshots

I had tried digging it up on the Nova board since Tom mods it, but this was the more appropriate place. Had I anything skills in programming in Carbon or Cocoa, beyond minor dabbling, Id volunteer to adopt the project and continue work on it myself, but alas, all we can do is hope he's willing to take this up again. Would any of the mods know where Tom is?

This topic can't die! I want that program! I have a pretty good idea what Tom's saying right now though:"Must.......finish......program....."(Falls asleep on keyboard due to exhaustion and ruins 74 hours of endless work.)

Wow, I had not seen screenshots of that program before. It does indeed look impressive. What amazes me is, if those screenshots were really from a year ago, that it was running so well in OS X.

Anyway, I had been considering adding a random galaxy generator to a future generation of EVONE (I have GOT to get this version out the door. It may be a while, but progress is being made.) since I received a request to have that as a feature. Since I have not spent much time thinking about it, I did not fully realize the necesary complexity of the generator : )

By the way, the feature request page for EVONE is now up on my website at:

Also, thank you, mister c. I noticed that you added my site to your sig.

I too eagerly await this app as placing 700+ systems has turned out to be a real pain. Though I can't hold my breath since it's been so long since there was any official word on it :frown: .

Edit: Go AriosSw. I'm eagerly awaiting EVONE, it promises to make my work so much easier.

It's made with REALbasic, if I recall correctly, which allows for quick ports.

Ah, then that explains it. Nevertheless, the program was well-designed, and it would be nice if it was completed (either by Tom or someone else).

My problem is I start reading before I see the date of the original post. Then I drool thinking this great idea is going to come out and make things easy.

Then I notice the date

I have no intentions of creating a TC. But wouldn't a program like this help for adding to the current map, even if I'm adding only a few systems. The answer is YES!! šŸ™‚

I like the idea of being able to take an existing star-map and turning it into a game map. It adds a note of realism to a Science Fiction game.
