Why doesn't some knowledgeable person (ie someone other than me) make a patch for ev/o to convert it to thousands or millions of colors? I think that'd be cool. Do you think that'd be cool? It'd certainly help graphics d00ds like me with plugins...
maybe Ambrosia could do that. I don't think it'd be that much work for someone to hack into the settings and make it thousands instead of 256. I don't mean actually put in new graphics, just the possibility of better ones in plugins.

It would actually be quite a bit of work, and not work that could be done without the source code. This conversion was one of the initial developmental challenges of EV Nova. If you want more than 256 colours, I suggest that you use the new engine; the scenarios of Escape Velocity and EV Overrride will be converted to it soon enough.

It's really not the scenarios that I want, it's the ease-of-programming. I suck at programming and want to keep things as simple as possible. bleah.

You'll continue to suck at programming if you keep that attitude. Do some programming that's just a bit more difficult to stretch yourself.

There is really very little programing involved in making a plugin (there was none before nova's arival), the only time something that might be concidered programing is involved is when you are trying to do smoe fancy trick like trying to do a timer based on chrons and NCBs or something like that. Otherwise, plugin making is really much more similar to scripting html for a webpage or making a pov-ray object. Joe
