Big spobs in EVO run slowly?

I was super-sizing my spobs for an EVO-based TC when I noticed the game slowing around 200x200 spobs. When I got near a 480x480 spob I had made for a test my ship was so slow it became difficult to fly.

Some experimenting with the spin proved it was a screen buffer issue, not the actual size of PICT involved.

Is this just my system, or should I stay with small spobs until I'm ready to go to Nova? (which, at least for me, does not slow anywhere near as badly when a large spob is on-screen)

I'm not a developer, but I would say stick to small spobs until you get used to the EVN engine.

I did find a drastic improvement when I switched to a 640x480 screen size. So, as long as I am doing this one in EVO, I'm going to optimize for small screens and "legacy" macs.

Having fun editing the DITLs now.
