The Open Mission Format (Rev 1)

I'm posting this early version of The Open Mission Format for some review. If anyone has comments, ideas, criticism, whatever, feel free to let me know. This is by no means a final version, and the websites inside for creating an account are not active for general use yet, so bear with me. They won't be made available for a short time after GD is released, anyway.

Thanks,

Anatole.

The Open Mission Format:

This document is intended as a guide for people who wish to develop mission
or other add-on files for Galactic Dissent (Author(s)). A current version
of Galactic Dissent can be found at (url="http://"http://prophet.damnsw.net/gd/")http://prophet.damnsw.net/gd/(/url). A
current version of EV-Nova, for which Galactic Dissent is a total
conversion set, can be found at (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn")http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn(/url)

The Open Mission Format exists to help create a environment where many
developers can work together to create one larger galaxy, but not
necessarily be working with each other. By separating each Author(s)‚s
data as much as possible, we can hopefully create a universe where several
add-on files can run together at once. Each of the Author(s) will have to
go to a web site, fill out an email-based form, and request that they
receive a set of id-numbers to use. Each set of ID numbers will be
reserved for their use alone; a single block includes 60 ncb‚s, 30
missions, 15 planetary objects, 10 outfits, 5 weapons, 5 disasters, 2
explosion types, 2 asteroid types, 10 systems, 5 ships, and 15
chronologically triggered events (cröns).

Each developer who submits:
A) A project summary and synopsis
🆒 A general outline of what will be required.
C) A list of people (At least 4) who will be willing to thoroughly
test their project for errors or bugs.
D) Proof or other guarantee that the project will be completed in a
timely manner
E) A system for contacting the author(s)

Will receive the above resource specifications. An incomplete form will
not be considered. Additionally, if the project idea is deemed unfit or
otherwise lacking will not be allowed and the resources will not be
allocated. The resources will be given out in those exact lots; if more
resources will prove nessecary, please contact me, Brian Whalley, and
submit a request for additional resource ID‚s for your project.

To further enforce this rule this, these projects MUST NOT be made
available at any public server other than those deemed appropriate. By
filling out and submitting the form for review, you wave all rights to
publish the project on Ambrosia‚s servers, or any other server besides the
one designated by me, Brian Whalley. Any project that is submitted to an
unauthorized server will be removed at the request of Brian Whalley.

Project author(s) should feel free to create their own websites or other
material for distribution for publicity on their own time and servers.
However, they cannot directly host their project on their own. Any project
that is created without the express permission of Brian Whalley will NOT be
a official project, and will not be supported in any way. This is done
only because a specific order of resource numbers must be kept so resources
do not override each other. This way, multiple projects can be run
simultaneously.

Please also note that while resources can be dependant on material from the
original scenario file or other projects, that they MUST NOT modify those
resources in the new project, or the integrity of other projects may be
compromised.

Currently reserved are the first:
200 planetary objects
100 systems
100 ncb‚s
60 crons
4 asteroids
3 explosion types
20 weapons
45 ships
40 outfits
20 disasters
30 missions

Thusly numbering will begin after those resource numbers in the project
files. Please go to (url="http://"http://prophet.damnsw.net/openformat/form.html")http://prophet.damns...ormat/form.html(/url) to fill
out an application to be allocated your resources. Multiple applications
at one time will not be reviewed; additional resources will only be
allocated on proof that the Author(s) will need more resources.

Please note that agreeing to the Terms and Conditions document at the above
address is a binding document; if you wish to cancel your project or have
other reason for needing to pause or stop development of your project, you
must immediately contact me, Brian Whalley, at the below address with your
project name, and your reasons for ending your development before
completion.
