I was trying out the new version of Cha0s's plugin(I'm testing it) and PoG must have deactivated Spells Expander. Well, next thing I knew, I was permanently a swordsman, and two of my items, the quicksilver ring, and Croyam's Crown had vanished form my inventory. I'm afraid that I'll have to start a new one. I guess I have no choice but to cheat to get to where I used to be. No, I don't like to cheat, but unless I get some sort of solution that will turn me back into a Conjuror, I'll have to cheat.

The only way to have Spells Expander deactivate is to start the game without having a check in its box on the plug-in screen. I'll e-mail you a conjurer game level 25 so you can carry on with the testing. ~RD

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Thanks for the Conjuror. It's actually 4 levels above my old one, but It'll do just fine.
I just hope this shows Stark that he NEEDS to make some sort of item that turns you back into a Conjuror, that requires the same level the WoW does and is only for Conjurors(I.E., only available at Bernard's/Galion's).

Actually Tanis, this shows the need to save more than one game. If you don't want the 4 levels up, just say so and I'll send you a level 21 game instead. For testing purposes I've saved at almost every level of the game, it's not a bad idea in any event. If you don't want to clutter you computer, put them on a zip disk for back-up. ~RD

Mr. Tanis Half-Halo,
If you remove a plug-in then any items you received from that plug-in will vanish. This is how Coldstone/PoG works, because it obviously can not load an item that isn't present(the plug-ins contain the item data). If you save your game then your game will be saved without the items. It will also save your games without the global variables set, so having an option to reclaim your items when you re-load a particular plug-in would be ineffective because we would not be able to tell if you had already gotten them previously or not.
I would suggest that if you do not load a certain plug-in that you either do not save your game, or save your game with a different name so you can return to that previously saved game.
As to the class change, this would only happen in 2 scenarios:
So once again this is not anything that a plug-in developer can do anything about. This is how Coldstone/PoG was made to work. If you want to keep any items and/or spells that you got within Spells Expander, or your class from Trinity, or the fabled whassit from rappaz, then you need to ensure that these plug-ins are always loaded with your characters game. If not then anything gained will be lost. However, if you load the plug-in you will be able to start anew everything within those plug-ins as if you never played them(which PoG and Coldstone will think is true).
I hope this makes sense to you.

Since I don't recall PoG telling me that Spells Expander had been turned off, using a level 25 Conjuror with over 4 million gold, courtesy of RD, is my way of getting revenge on PoG! I suppose part of it was my fault for saving over my saved game...(hits self in head)
BTW, RD, isn't 140 fresh apples a bit much? And how did you get so much gold?

In my experience, if you start a game that previously had more than one plug-in loaded and you unckeck plugs, PoG will only tell you about one of them. Let's say you had Trinity, Spells Expander, Sapphire, and CHa0s going in your saved game. Now you open this game but only CHa0s is checked. The screen might say "Are you sure you want to open this game, the plug-in Sapphire is missing." It does not tell you that others are missing too. I know this is a problem and if I'm not 100% sure what I just did, I quit this game without saving and go back and check the plug-in status.
Originally posted by Tanis Half-Halo: BTW, RD, isn't 140 fresh apples a bit much?
What can I say? I like cheese and quail eggs better than apples. Besides, I'm looking for a good price for them by the bushel. The merchants will only give me 2 gold pieces each for them and I get the same price for an apple that's not fresh. There are a total of 149 fresh apples in the game - I must have eaten nine of them without getting a stomach ache.

With Staff of Lordship I killed a lot of Sea Giants to get to level 25. They dropped a lot of Rings of Gods. At 30000 gold each the account builds up when you have nothing more to spend it on. I don't need to buy any more elixirs at Witch Finger, I don't buy healing potions because I've got the spell Restore Health, and I have all the weapons I need. So anything I pick up is sold (except fresh apples ) and that's how you get to be a millionaire. P.S. I could go buy 1900 more elixirs of strength and be able to kill the Guardian in one blow with my bare hands, but I've been there - done that in another game (just to see if it was possible) and where's the fun in that?

For any who are interested, I have just completed an experiment. I opened a conjurer game without Spells Expander (which had previously been there) and was able to restore all spells and almost all equipment in short order by re-starting with SE. Croyam's Crown is the only item which was no longer available. Necklace of Stone will do almost as well, it just doesn't have the regenerative properties of CC. If one were to use the plug-in Regenify, this drawback would be minimal.
When Tanis had his accident, he must have turned off Trinity too. That's why he was a swordsman instead of a conjurer. So there you have it - all is not lost if you screw up in the load plug-ins screen.

No, Trinity was on. How do I know? Because I was in the Mage Tower.

Were you perhaps under the effects of Wizard of War?

Yes.
Originally posted by Tanis Half-Halo: **Yes. **
Let me see if I've got this right, because I'm curious as to why (and how) you were in the Mage Tower as a knight in shining armor (or maybe it was a little-bit-tarnished armor). I don't think you can get in the front door if you have cast Wizard of War because you don't have any special skills when you're a knight. So you must have either used a gate stone to get there, or cast the spell while you were inside. But why?, I ask myself.
Now either you quit (again, why?) or the game crashed because PoG didn't know what to do with a knight inside the tower.
If the game crashed for the above reason, then it makes sense to me that the plug-in might not have loaded when you tried to re-start because PoG detected a conflict and would not allow the plug-in to load. I would certainly want to see what Stark has to say about this.
Is my analysis anywhere close? ~RD

Personally, I enjoy walking around the tower as a knight, heh.
I would gather that he cast the WoW spell either when he left one of the rooms in the tower, or within the tower proper. Because no, you can not enter the tower from the outside while in knight form, and you can't cast spells while in knight form. So the only way to get inside is to either use the gate stone(as suggested) or to cast the spell within the tower.
And as I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, if WoW was in effect when you saved your game, then you loaded the saved game without SE installed, then your character will be stuck in knight form, and PoG will consider your character a knight. I can create a fix for you(pretty easy.. just do a check on &&Job; and if it is equal to conjurer then set &&PlayerClass; to 2 and switch the player icon to display the correct conjurer icon based on the character's &&TitleKnight; / &&TitleFighter; / &&TitleSquire; values) and upload it if you want, but all this will do is reset your character to a conjurer. It will do nothing about spells/items lost due to not loading the plugin.

I used a gate stone to get inside. WoW had already been cast, and I had loaded the game(when SE was turned off) when I was in a cave in Cha0s's plugin. I went to the mage tower to see if they were selling the items I had lost, and for some stupid, reason, I saved over my save file. Having PoG quit 2-3 times a DAY on average can do that to you. I get so scared that I'm going to get really far, and the game will quit without me saving, so I always save. For some reason, PoG quits more than any other game I have combined.

Yep, this here is the culprit.
As a side note, after talking things over with Rubber Ducky about the problems with loading a saved game without the proper plugins, I've decided to re-do a few things in Spells Expander so that everything will again be obtainable if you choose to "re-play" it.
The update will be released shortly after my next plug-in goes into beta testing, as I will then have all the info I need to make SE compatible with it. When this will be I'm not entirely certain. Hopefully soon though...
