I have far too much time on my hands these days. I need to waste some.
I just got back into making a new plug for EVO. It's just to get me warmed up, I don't intend to release it.
I haven't got NOVA yet and my comp it a rusty piece of ****e but I'm getting freshed up soon (hopefully), and once I get my head round the new system I'll be pumping out plugs. I would need a little team of another 2 (max 3) people, so keep your ears open.
And I would like to get one thing straight. I haven't released any major plugins (Discovery fell apart due to too many people and Galactica was scrapped after the release of EVN), but I am a seasoned programmer. Gildor informs me that EVN is a lot more powerful, so I'll be looking forward to it.
All I need it ideas. I haven't played EVN yet but however good it is, I've never been a plug-in man. TC's for me, so I was wondering what might be more in demand:
A remake of Galactica with more systems? Galactica, by the way, was a half-top-secret project of a TC using all new graphics and a new universe. It was made very quickly; two weeks with the missions to go (110 systems, loadsa outfits + ships, 5 major govts). If anyone wants, I could start afresh on the original idea and transfer it to the new engine.
OR
EVO
I could transfer the data from EVO to EVN. All the fans could play under the new improved engine, and it would allow ideas for it that weren't possible before (with the new features). I know you can't just copy and past it all but a bit of effort and it COULD be done, but not on my own. This is the only plug (well, game really) that I would require a 6-man team or so. Mainly just before it would take a lot of manuel copying, filling in the new recourse requirements as they are needed. I don't know about graphics though, I suppose they would just have to be the crappy ye olde graphics.
EV
ditto, but this is more of a suggestion to others. Damned if I'd do it.
So, anything to build on these ideas?

Since w00tWare's upcoming PortAuthority would be able to do these conversions almost completely automatically (and I hear w00tWare finishing the job for the default scenarios during testing) these projects would be unlikely to be a worthwhile use of your time.

Except of course if you included spiffy new graphics

I believe a number of people are already working on similar projects without PortAuthority anyway. If you wanted to work on new graphics and such, you wouldn't be alone.
