Hi, I'm making a EVN plug for EVC for people who are tired of the old EV graphics and I wanted to make a plug using the new EVN graphics. Could some one please either upload or e-mail me (upload preferable since I can't check my E-Mail right now) the EV Graphics file for Nova (since I haven't ordered it yet) so I can make the plug. I realize that this could be considered software piracy but it isn't the whole game. If anyone would be kind enough to, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance.
-Mike

You don't have to register to look at the Nova graphic files. The registration is handled by a special pref file that hold the code. It wouldn't do you any good to have one of those sent to you either, as the file resets every time it switches computers.
Now about copying them back into a form in which you can use them in EV... Haha, Try. ------------------ (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/benedwards/.cv/benedwards/Public/Ares1.2/StarsAreFire%3AC4.sit-binhex.hqx")The Stars Are Fire(/url)-A TC for Ares

Then do you think that you could copy the pics and put them into a Res Edit template and upload them in the EVN Addons section or send them to me. I'd be extremely grateful.

look, just download EVN and NovaTools, you can look at all the files you want but you just won't be able to get nova to use any plugs until it is registered. You can copy the picts yourself.

Don't you think I would have done that if I could? I'm on a slow connection and it won't download overnight because my ISP drops out from time to time in the middle of the night. That's why I said I was ordering the CD and not downloading. Now if some people were nice enough to help me out and do this quick 5 minute job, then you wouldn't have had to have post that, now would you?
You want ALL the evn ship sprites? Nova has 7 ship files, 4 of which hold ship sprite information. Also, all the sprites have been encoded into "rle8" and "rleD" resources, which are basically conversions for PICT sprites that are smaller and easier for Nova to handle. Decoding all those sprites take a while, and reintegrating them into one file would be a hassle. I'd do it, but I'd bet that all the sprite files would be almost as large as Nova itself (anyone want to check that?). Not to mention that some of the ships' animations are on a separate sprite file.
The sprites themselves are no longer handled by spins, so you'd have to build those yourself.
The ships are way more sophisticated than they used to be, and even the number of default weapons that are loaded have increased.
There's also the fact that Nova itself is WAY too big for EVC (or probably EVO) to handle. If you just want to convert the basic ships, I'm not even sure if EVC could handle that.
I'm sorry, Mike, but I'm pretty dubious of what giving you the sprites would accomplish, and I don't have the time to do all those conversions and edits.
Emailing you the data files are impossible because the four ship data files total over 50 MB. That's more than half of what the Nova download is. If you ask me, it's worth your time to just wait for the CD to come. In the meantime, check out w00tware (I can't remember the URL), but they'll have everything you need to extract the Nova sprites when you get the files.

w_i_t_m is right - essentially, if you don't have the time to download Nova you don't have the time to download (or receive by email) the graphics, which are by far the largest part of it. Good news, though, is that it would not in any way be piracy if you could

Well thanks anyway guys. I'll just wait for the CD and do it then. Gosh, I didn't know they had changed the engine so much. Oh, well. cya.
