The other day mburch mentioned that some outfits, if placed as default outifits on a ship, will actually affect AI ships of that type, but didn't mention which ones. So far all we know for sure is that thrust, top speed, and turning rate outfits won't affect AI ships. Anybody interested in trying to help figure out which outfit types do something for the AI?

No, they don't. Try making a ship and giving it a cloaking device as a default outfit; the ship will never use it. Cloaking is enabled by setting certain flags in the ship resource; the same goes for fast jump, inertialessness, and asteroid mining.
