Can someone post up a new subject about unlocking the potential of developing EVO plug-ins? Or, if the subject was posted along time ago, could they revive it?
I got some ideas in making cool stuff. I'm hoping people would list some cool things to do with EVO too. By now stuff like kamikaze fighters and self-replicating clones have been mentioned. If any registered user is interested in posting this subject or ressurecting it, please do so.
I am working on an outfit. Well, it's sort of an outfit. It's called the "Defense Grid" basically, the defense grid is a giant ring that is designed to surround your ship everywhere you go and protect you, kind of like wearing an armored suit. This giant ring is equipped with lots of weapons and strikes at hostile enemy that get within it's range.
Neat eh? I am still testing it out and so far it's working.
For those of you who played ROTUE, I'm sure you remember playing a mission where you had to destroy the Svass Defense Station. I have a theory how this could be better and I think it was something UE Patriot wanted to achieve but instead, had to go with this result.
ROTUE talks about how all the defense weapons and armamnets had to be taken off Svass Station and put on a new station(which behaved like a ship).
This is what I would of done, create an new Svass system resource ID for the duration of the mission. Enter Svass Station's Spob ID in the syst resource field. But don't edit Svass Station's spob. The reason for this is because you will want to access the map where the system indicates that Svass station is in that system but when you go there, technically, it won't be there. However, as preset in the "Attack Svass Station" mission, that system will create a Svass Station but a ship version at that which now instead of destroying it, the mission goal should be set to disable Svass Station so that the UE can take over it.
Well, that's how I would of done it. Basically you can use this technique if you want to have a moving attacking station. And of course if the mission says to destroy it, then obviously you'd have to replace the system with a new one that excludes that particular spob corresponding with the station.

I have been trying to make a plug that makes post-main-string changes to the evn universe. For instance absorbing the polaris into the federation after the complection of the ploaris strings. I think the preccess to do this involves the cron resource, but i am not exctly sure how to go about it. If any one has any tips that would be great.
I noticed that some plug-ins have no downloads but have at least a rating of somekind or another. How's that possible?
hey, I'm trying to make a weapon in resedit but I can't get the wëap resource to load. I can get all the other ones to work but not wëap. please help me!
I am attempting to make a Wild Geese Lightning Bay for EVN and it works once the fighters are launched they behave strangely. They generally launch there missiles if i order them to and then fly up and down my ship. If i attempt to call them back onto the ship at any time they do the same thing. Any suggestions on why this might be happening? its pretty annoying.
I know this might be a stupid question, but here goes.
I have read the NOVA Bible over and over, but have not found how to specify what spöb to use in a particular s˙st.

The answer to this question may be wrong - I haven't done enough mission work in EVN. This advice comes straight from my knowledge of EV Override...
Planets and systems that change on the completion of a mission (namely the last polaris mission) are controlled by a 'VisBit'. This is a mission bit (set on completion of the relevant mission) that is entered into the appropriate field in the s˙st resource. The s˙st resource is therefore invisible until that mission bit is set. While as far as the player is concerned it is the same system with some changes, for the developer it is a whole new system, just in the same place as the old one.

There is a bug in the plugin script that Cafall drew ou attention to a little while ago. For some reason, if a plugin's file name has both spaces and capital letters in it, the counter will not work. Either is ok, just not both.
So:
MyPlug - counter works fine myplug - counter works fine my plug - counter works fine My Plug - counter does not record downloads.

Assuming you are editing Nova here, try downloading and reinstalling Novatools - your weap resource editor may be corrupted. If you are using EV or EVO, reinstall the TMPL resource in the file.

Now I know that in the submission window how it explains how to submit plugins and one particular saying that you have to avoid using space and stuff when naming your file. I was wondering if it be a little out of the way explaining further on the fact that if you do use space and capitol letters in a way, that the counter would be disabled and would make people think that the plug-ins were never downloaded, especially to newbies. I mean it help alot I think, at least I learned my lesson as that the Kamikaze Drone is the last mistake I'll ever make when it comes to naming files.
This just a thought if anyone cares to take an interest in making a lil edit in the submission window.
does anyone know how i can create my own ship. If its a program, can you finde one that will run on a Quuadra 900?

Trying to make a plug with a mission that's dirt-simple to get. Availrandom is 100, it's in the bar, at Earth. No required bits to test. No moving. No travel, no return. You just hit the bar, get the mission, hit YES, and succeed. I've got my descs as 4737 - 4740 (for brief desc, quick desc, refuse desc, and complete desc). Onsuccess it sets a single bit. That's all.
Problem is: I never get the mission. I boot up Nova, and make a new pilot, and hit Earth, go to the bar, never get the mission. Go to other stellars, head back to Sol, hit Earth, nothing in the bar. Debuglog shows nothing wrong with my mission.
What am I doing wrong? Why can I never get my mission to appear?
