Ratio of plugs announced to completed

I am going to say, 25:1. Any other bets?

I would figure more like...

Small Plugs with minor changes; 10:1
Storyline Expansion plugs; 20:1
Total Conversion plugs; 75:1

My thoughts exactly... w/out such specific numbers.

I like your reasoning 😉

Oh, I think you're being pessimistic - I'd say at least 1 in 50 total conversions get finished, and 1 in 5 small minor change plugs. Just look at all the plugins that add a single übership, or a system, or a government....

I've been around these forums( and discboard), lets just say forever for the sake of making it simple. And in my experince. Hardly any plugins that were announced were EVER completed.

Agreed. It's a two way street; plugins that aren't announced (my new plugins, both released and planned: Green Cursor, Colored Targets, Nova Brackets/Warning (EV/EVO), Classic Warning, 3D Targets (EVN), Point Defense Mod) are the most likely to get finished, as there is no expectation about when they should be out by.

I agree with MacGP. The only two plugins I've ever released (Arada (EVO) and Mega-Shield EV (EV)) were completely unannounced--even when I released them. 🙂 The other plugin I began work on (Eclipse) had a very small announcement on this board--I eventually abandoned it.

Yea. I put out stuff on developer corners for probably a year, and no one answered my plea for help. I dropped that tc. EV:N came out, and having taken a look at the features that are available, I decided to take another crack at it, this time, I took the effort of making a "teaser" plug to attract a design team. Since it seems that most of you are a little upset that most tc's fall through, why don't you donate your services to a good cause...

The teaser plug and all its documentation is available here: (url="http://"http://virtualgoo.tripod.com/download/Gundam0083Teaserv001.sit.hqx")http://virtualgoo.tr...serv001.sit.hqx(/url) For some reason the link doesn't work. Just type the URL in your browser window.

The link doesn't work. If you click on it, it comes up with an error, saying you can't download it. If you control-click on it, and download it manually, then it downloads, but the file doesn't work. -_-

Oy. Don't you love modern technology? The main problem was that I didn't create a page to download it from because I didn't want to take the time... I guess that I'll do that some time. Oh well. I don't know why the file wouldn't work. After I uploaded it, I went and downloaded it myself to make sure it works. Do you have stuffit expander? Otherwise, I don't know what the problem'd be.

Idea, why doesn't everyone work on ONE plug, agree on a topic, then everyone can work together and get ONE GOOD quality plug out. There could be a program team, mission team, and graphic team... Everyone would just have to have some sort of chat to communicate all at the same time.

Yeah, I know, impossible and it will never happen.

Actually, from both experience and observation, I'd say that for most plug-ins, large development teams have resulted in vaporware, while all the good plug-ins have had smallish development teams (one or two big guys, a graphics guy if the one or two didn't include one, and a few minor helpers here and there). The only exception I've seen was Nova itself.

As for the whole topic of this post, it serves as good justification for why one shouldn't announce a plug-in until it's been uploaded.
