I had to reformat my hard drive recently. I saved all my prefs and suchlike to CDs but when I go online it doesn't read my Netscape prefs, so i've lost my email and bookmarks. can someone help me??

Yes, I learned this by having my dad scream at me for an hour over why he couldn't check his e-mail. Anyways, here's what I did. I installed OS9 from a CD onto my computer, while running the OS from the CD. I backed up my system folder on a different partition...What I did is then I took the old prefs once I installed OS9 (and got yelled at) and, without changing the name at all, I put them in the new system folder. Or transferred most of them at least. Anyways, netscape prefs are a bit trickier, as they come in a folder. You delete whatever folder you may have for netscape in your NEW prefs folder, then you take the old folder and move it into the prefs folder. you shouldn't have to restart the comp, either. It is INCREDIBLY important that you keep the same names for the profiles. each profile has its own folder with the corresponding name, btw.

That's what i did - the problem is that Netscape refuses to convert the files from the old to new format.
