[ANN] MissionComputer 1.3.1 Update Available

I have now released version 1.3.1 of MissionComputer, an update to my scenario editing tool for Escape Velocity and EV Override. MissionComputer is not intended at this time to completely replace traditional plug-in editing tools such as ResEdit, but complements them to provide an easier way of editing missions, descriptions, governments, fleets, düde resources, commodities, and (for EV Override only) the game's year offset. It also provides an easier way to look up the resource IDs needed when setting up plug-ins. This new version fixes several bugs and improves cargo type selection in the mission editor.

MissionComputer, first released on 22 December 2001 after several months of development and testing, is available both in a Carbon version designed for Apple's Mac OS X and in a Classic version for Mac OS 9 and below. Version 1.3.1 supports both the Escape Velocity 1.0.5 and EV Override 1.0.2 file formats. I have not yet decided whether future versions of MissionComputer or other similar utilities will support Ambrosia Software's upcoming new game EV Nova.

Like all previous versions, MissionComputer 1.3.1 is available for free from my web site at (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/")davidarthur.evula.net(/url).

NovaTools makes develoment quite a bit easier, but it isn't any great shakes either; as DrRalph said, it was designed very quickly so that ATMOS would have something besides TMPLs to use.

Now that you have seen NovaTools, is there any possibility that you would make an EV Nova version of MissionComputer?

Yes, I would love to see a better mission editor for Nova. It would be very nice if you could edit descs within the misn resource, ala Shmelta-V.

Yes. An EV Nova editor which includes at least mďsn/dësc editors along the same lines as MissionComputer's is on my to-do list, although I haven't yet started it since I'm rather busy right now. I've also been thinking of doing an EV Nova formula calculator.
