I've asked Matt about this one before; turns out it's an old obsolete feature, not used in Nova. Having it set or not will have no effect on the game.

Since it's an old obsolete feature, it's probably a leftover from it (just like the "back room" button). It hasn't been removed because it doesn't do anything, hence it isn't worth the trouble of going through all the files and removing it.

EVula is correct. I think ATMOS viewed it as unimportant go through the hundreds of Nova missions and remove it when it was used, since it wouldn't hurt anything.
Anyone have any theories on what this mystery flag was before it was removed, based on what missions it was used in?
