Does EnRLE require masks?

I recently made a whole load of planet pictures, and tried to use them, but Nova seems to crash when using PICT-based sprites. So I went to rle* them, but EnRLE does not seem to work - it just copies the spďn across without creating an actual rle8 or rleD. It has worked in the past, when used on a file I created directly with m2s... does this mean it requires there to be masks for the PICT sprites? I hope not, because some of them would be hard to make masks for...

Yes, it does require masks. You need to do a proper spin with both the picture and the mask fields filled in and pointing to appropriate pict resources.

Yes, EnRLE requires masks. In fact, all EV Nova sprites should have masks; I wonder if this could be what is causing your crashes.
