I am now in the stage where I can accept suggestions for my upcoming plugin, Drifter. Heres the storyline behind it.
For 2 years man had been fighting it's greatest enemy, the Cybix. Nobody knows where they came from. Some theorys state that they came from Uti Tau, a system shrouded in mystery that no human has ever explored and returned safely. Most of the reports from ships that dissapeared in Uti Tau say there was a gigantic black hole or a strange force.
Most people think it is the secret weapon of the Cybix. You, a simple trader ignored these theorys thinking that the danger off Uti Tau was only a legend. You were wrong...
Seconds after you entered Uti Tau on your way to the Beta system your ship was crippled by a strange object. You barely had time to climb into your escape pod and eject before your ship exploded in a huge fireball. You activate hypersleep and set a hyperspace course hoping to end up in a friendly system.
Months later you awake in the Omicron system. You wonder where you are but then recall the encounter with the danger of Uti Tau. As you aproach the planet you vow to one day solve the mystery of Uti Tau.
What I need mainly are mission suggestions
here are some ideas I had -If you try to play the Cybix mission string they will use you and then you have to leave the Cybix. -A mission where you have to destroy an advanced Cybix cruiser that uses matter from surrounding space to create special fighters with less arnament. I would just set it to be a bay with 9999 fighters and cange it to an energy zap sound so it was like it was just creating them. -and a mission where you get a cloaking device and pass the danger of Uti Tau unoticed and find a mysterious station whith the old inhabitants of Uti Tau on board.

Well maybe someone could suggest a better name and the intro wont sound that dumb because this is a shortened version I know most people don't like to read through 129000 words to get an idea of my plugin.

Jerk. How would you like YOUR plug-in be called **** by others? Hm? Cybix, though, does sound like some kind of futuristic something. Dunno.
Anyways, Trader, I won't deny that this has been done before-- the idea of a mysterious alien, but none of the ones that I have heard of have a centralized basis. Yeah, you MIGHT want to change the name, but as well, I suggest that you primarily focus your efforts elsewhere in the plugin.
Question, though: Is this a TC (Total Conversion) plug-in? If so, I could do some basic/other graphics for you...
My ideas:
1. Instead of having just that one mysterious system, you could have a few, here and there, and then you could also have missions and spöbs that have some strange link to Uti Tau.
2. Have various sub-plots. Like things that lead up to the final downfall of Cybix, or something like that. Shipping runs, various Frozen Heart/EVO/EV-style missions, etc.
3. Include variety in ships and..stuff.

Yeah maybe I could do some more mysterious systems. It is a TC plug and sure you can make graphics. What I really need is the Danger of Uti Tau. If you want a spoiler of what it is I can tell you so you can make the graphics. I could also use more ships for the ex-Cybix. For the Once-Cybix-Ships I downloaded the Slicer set from Shades Shipyard but compared to how many human ships I have the Once-Called-Cybix seem pathetic. Maybe I just need to give them more power. Anyway lots of good ideas here.
Although one system is a neat concept, if you make the cybix playable, you'll probably need at least 7 or 8 sysems and 10 or more spobs to keep it interesting. As this is a TC, you'll probably need a number of minor governments as well. Keep the title. It's simple, accurate, it works, and leaves a nice mysterious feeling. I look forward to your work!

Well Uti Tau is not exactly a Cybix system because it is uninhabited and you get killed by the danger of Uti Tau whenever you go there. The Once-Cybix-Now-Needing-New-Name have a cluster planets to the galactic east and a couple others scattered about the galaxys edge. I will have some minor governments such as the Ru Mueio (I could use a cool name like that for the Cybix) who have only 3 ships and a tiny cluster of planets. Oh and for graphics one thing I need is a 'Most Powerful Civilian Ship'. Make it sleek and cool like the Kestrel not big and bulky and I don't care what the color scheme is as long as it's reasonable. not purple with little polka dots and orange stripes and you know what I mean.
Nice take -- I don't think this has been done before, with the pilot waking up after having had a run in with the enemy. Giving the player some unfinished business will provide a focus which a lot of plugins lack.
If you really want to do a TC, then you'll need to come up with some twists on the game engine that haven't been done before, so that at a crucial moment in the plot the player goes 'wow, how did they do that?'
Right now I don't think many plugins have taken advantage of the EVO 1.0.2 new features, so there's some scope there. Of course, if you're going Nova then the possibilities are endless.
The big temptation of TCs is to put quantity over quality. Loads of people have p(b)o(a)sted on these boards that they are going to have 1000 worlds, or 25 MB of graphics, or 5 minute QT movies, and its now pretty much standard to claim that all the ship slots will be used, all the weapon slots will be used, all the pers slots will be used etc.
When I start playing your plugin, though, I will initially just land on one planet, in one ship, and do one mission, for which I may be able to afford one outfit. I may come up against one ship, and I will end up on one or at most two other worlds. By that time I'll either have the impression that I have entered a new universe which I desperately want to explore, or I'll have decided that it's just more of the same and will probably give up. So having a few (maybe just a hundred) worlds which really live and breathe, and maybe just fifty missions, and maybe just six unique ships available for me to buy, and a few outfits which are really interesting is going to catch my imagination.
