(url="http://"http://www.eovia.com/")Amapi 3D(/url) is a POV-Ray compatible, $400 modeling tool that supposedly has a lot of power up its sleeves. Legitimate owners of RayDream or Infini-D can get a discount on the latest version (half off), but it doesn't stop there: Version 4.15 is available (url="http://"http://amapi.idevgames.com/html/download.html")here(/url), completely free and completely legal. Additionally, if you register your copy (still no charge) you can get a discount on version 5 or 6.
My computer is too diseased to handle Amapi, but you guys will probably have better luck. Go ahead and install it, and please post your feedback in this topic.
Thanks ahead of time.

I tried out the previous free version, and have talked about it with other users. It has some remarkable, high-end tools I'd love to have in my every-day modelling work. But...I found it (and I was not alone in this) very difficult to use. Poor documentation, non-existant feedback, and a unique layout. It also ran dead-slow on my G3-upgraded Power Mac. Oh, and crashed roughly every two minutes (!!!)
I'm DL'ing the new free version and will give it a spin, tho. Those who have dealt with the learning curve have found it a useful piece of software, indeed.

Totally. You had the choice between two tool layouts, which were equally bad. The documentation was a poor translation from French, and did not explain enough to actually make objects.
Funny, it didn't seem to run particularly slowly on my 603ev, and it didn't crash once (probably because I used it for about five seconds ;)).

You'll get over it. No offense intended here, this also very much applies to myself, but you still have a bit of learning to do, and Mechanisto is a great place to do it. So be content and use Christmas vacation to improve yourself, as I intend to.

Is it compatible with Infini-D models (such as the EVO ones avalable in the add-ons secion)?
