IF someone were to start making a serious multiplayer EVish thing, would they get access to the source code to EV/O/N? Or would they be forced to re-write the engine entirely?

Heh..doubt it. I don't think Ambrosia would give the source to anyone, unless they had a VERY good design document outlining the modifications, previous game development experience and some sort of funding. Even that might not be enough.

AmbrosiaSW would never license the code to anyone unless they had a very formal business deal kinda thing. If you emailed them with some vague idea about EVMP, you would never get it.
Unless you own a company and, like someone said, have programming experience, funding, ETC you are not going to get your hand on the EV Source code. Sorry.

Whoops, apparently I gave the impression I -wanted- the source code -- the day I learn enough C or Dylan or something to write an EVMP would be the day monkeys flew out of my butt.
