EV Devolopers map

I was having a little trouble with the Dev. map. Once you make the systems in there, do you have to open the file in RES edit for the systems to show up in the game? Another question, is there a way you can make a planet without a SPOB? Original EV here...

Opening the file in ResEdit doesn't do anything to it, so you don't have to in order for the systems to show up. You'll probably want to, however, for fine-tuning. As for making a planet without a spöb, the spöb ~is~ the planet. Making a planet without a spöb would be like making a ship without a shďp resource.

By the way, all these things work pretty much the same in both Escape Velocity and EV Override.

Ok, that makes sense. I was wondering about the No spobs thing because it would be really cool to make a plug with an invisible planet. Come to think of it, I can just make a bkack Spob.

It would still be targetable, so it wouldn't be completely invisible. If you don't want the player to see that there is a planet there, try not putting one there. 😜

Also, the planet wouldn't have to be black, but it's mask would.

I know it would be targetable. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Krikkit in HHGTTG.

I believe your questions have been answered, just wanted to suggest you upgrade to EVO Developers Map. It has many more features ( ability to place system dudes and message buoys, choose custom landing picts, write spob and bar descs, preview systems and spobs, etc.) and works equally well with either EV or EVO.

Ah, alright, I'll do that.
