i've been trying to get my ev or evo plug off the ground for years, but ev-edit's so buggy that i can't get very far. i don't want to use resedit because it's so confusing. i've heard something about resedit templates but i'm not sure if they'd be what i'm looking for. can someone suggest a good plugin editor without too steep of a learning curve? i must unleash my creation upon the world, j0!

Yeah, the same goes for me. Sombody did post somthig good a bit ago, i think it was called "if you are new to making plug-in" or somthing like that. It has some good links... Is there a plug-in guide that walks you through making a plug? Somthing like that would be VERY usefull to newbies like me...

Read the EV(O) Annotated Bible. It is very, very simple. Resedit asks for something and you tell it. For example, it asks for a planet, and you give the number that matches with that planet.
It just looks intimidating. A lot of odd words with little boxes next to them. I know several children (11, 12) who can use ResEdit. You just need to sit down with the EV-BIble and learn. Talk to TSB, he is quite young, and had the same problems as you, but he learned it. He can give you some pointers on learning.
No offense, but if you really can't use ResEdit then you shouldn't be making plug-ins.
Oh, and the templates are just things that let you use ResEdit to make EV(O) plugins. They are neccesary, but do not simplify the process much.

Anyway, I dont know much, I just moderate. Anyway, ResEdit is good, look out for R&R; Software's resedit interface thingies, they're good. Shipwrite and Mission control are also useful, but I dont think they're avaliable atm.

There's another mission editor coming up sooner rather than later, see below...

Yeah, I know. I have already figured out most of it and now I am just trying to make ships and the like and figure out the little things.(like you said, ares1, its not really that hard. Just a little confusing at first.) And, yeah, the EV Bible is a lot of help! blackhole, do you know when Shipwrite will be out? And are there any good EV (not evo)editors out? And I do NOT mean Ev-Edit... Ick... Anyways Divals, I dont think think resedit will be to hard...

When you get good with ResEdit, you get to crash your computer on an almost daily basis from editting systme files! Awesome program, don't know what I'd do without it! (how else can you make a folder named "Trash" that isn't the Trash can?) Of course it's good for editing EV also.
