The problem for me doesn't have to do with brightness - the text is bright enough already. The problem is that the colours are so similar that they run together, and the text doesn't look as much like text as like a hole in the background. Anyway, I can read the text, it's just very hard to get my eyes to focus on it properly.

I completely understand. I often have the same problems with websites that mix similar colors. Fix it I shall...
By the way all you Netscape users, I've got some good news. I've fixed some screwed code spotted by EVula in the HTML at Saber Studios, so I'm guessing the page should load fine now. Give it a try and report back as soon as you can concerning the loading results...

I'll change it to something brighter anyhow. Thanks for bringing the problem to my attention.
Lesson 1 of web design: NEVER assume that because it looks a certain way on your computer, that it looks that way on other computers. Even if they're the same OS, same model, same monitor, same browser version, etc.

Answer to lession number 1: I learned that years ago. I gurantee that the tables of the Saber Studios website are all out of whack when viewed with a PC. Not to mention all the other problems a website can have...
Also, after fixing some extra code, I've fixed all the links on the right-side menu bar.

What's the deal with the black and yellow strips.. I see them on ships and they look ugly on them.. Us for the ship itself it looks great it's the too clean look to the body art.. most combat fighters are not gleaming brand spanking new look to them.

Heh, someone mentioned the same thing at the Image Gallery. Thanks for the comment.

Black and yellow stripes usually means "caution," and "caution" is advised near areas where weapon maintenance crews work.
You're right, most fighters aren't all spick and span. But if you were selling a car or airplane, would you post a gross, muddy picture of it, or a clean, gleaming version? The latter choice is what all modern magazines and websites use if I remember correctly...
Thanks for the comment.
Nice ship, overall. I do like the shape, and that's a nicely detailed texture. Specularity seems a tad high. Sure, I agree with your reasoning about the "shiny and new" (as I recall Lockheed et al would put their birds in fancy only-for-rollout paintjobs that had little to do with their later combat appearance), but the specularity makes it look too plastic. Will your rendering ap allow a bit of reflectivity, perhaps?
Those blue cockpits everyone uses kind of get to me after a while. They do show up nicely in the main EVO window, tho ;}
You site gave no problems to an iCab browser. Text was hard to read on my lack-luster 16", but no easier on the second, brighter, monitor. I've seen worse, tho. Wrote worse; those background gifs can kill text!
I'll check back in a little to see how the site is going. Now I want to see the whole shipyard. ------------------ everywhere else, it's -- "Nomuse"

Omigosh, now that Saber Studios has a home at evula.net, I've got major competition...
JK, your site has always kicked my butt. I've got to update that thing...

Yes, it does seem to look like plastic, especially at a distance. I created the ship with Infini-D, so I do know for a fact that I can fix that. I believe I had the "reflective" setting at between 90 and 100% just before I rendered the Firefly...

Heh, agreed. Someone at the EV Image Gallery actually recommended I give the Confederation ships blue cockpits (I believe it was David Arthur) in order to attain the original Confederation ship style, though I do prefer black. Once I get to the Rebel ships, I'll probably go with black cockpits...

David Arthur also said the same thing about the text. Would making it completely white instead of light blue show up better on your moniter?
I too look forward to finishing the Confederation expansion set shipyard, since it is in high demand. Thanks for the comments.

Competition indeed.
You've got a nice website yourself, so don't put it down. It's certainly got potential...
Some mech legs I never got around to finishing. I'll try completing the mech if I get the time, though. Just over 200 objects, and no textures or colors applied. If any of you Infini-D users would like the model, just e-mail me.
Those are sweet, Skyblade. How long did it take you to make those? (like man hours, not counting time in between work sessions)

All in all, about three hours for everything you see in the graphic (spread across two days).
Are you serious? How could you possibly do something so complex in 3 hours?
Originally posted by ares1: **Are you serious? How could you possibly do something so complex in 3 hours? **
Oh come on, it's not that hard to make something like that. If you notice, each leg is exactly the same (not even mirrored), so he only had to work on one, and each curly part is pretty simple to make, just a cylinder and a twisted rectangular prism. The rest really isn't that hard, just fairly simple shapes. If I could find my copy of Ray Dream Studio, I could whip up something like that.

As Restorer said, I only had to work on one leg, link all the images together, then duplicate it. Adding all the small details is what took awhile (such as the springs). The strands of springs are actually several objects attached to each other, since I have no idea how to model an entire spring-looking object...

Well, I found my copy of Ray Dream, and spent an hour hacking the serial number (I lost mine). I quickly relearnt the mesh modeler, and worked out an admittedly primitive, but workable, ship. It is easier than it may seem to do the modelling, but it takes a while. Before I knew it, hours had gone by. Here's my attempt: The big version is at: (url="http://"http://www.pacificnet.net/~restorer/3d/AlienShuttle1.jpg")http://www.pacificne...ienShuttle1.jpg(/url) I'll work on more tonight, hopefully getting something good. Maybe I'll try remodelling the EV/EVO ships for practice. Anyone got a good source for ship textures? I'm gonna check out Meowx, but I can't get them immediately (it requires membership). Ok, enough rambling...
