Here we go, now I have the hang of it. Expect more pictures from me to spontaneously appear in my directory, which you can access at: (url="http://"http://www.pacificnet.net/~restorer/3d/")http://www.pacificne...t/~restorer/3d/(/url) My second attempt. You'll all (hopefully) recognize it as the U.E. Fighter. I've added some rusting and all-around aging for character. Like? It took me about an hour an 50 minutes to create and render, even with two app crashes and a slow computer. Maybe the wings are too big... whatever. You can get the full version in my above directory. In the meantime, I'll keep myself busy, and if anyone wants me to do a quick model for them (for free, of course) e-mail me. I'm available for the rest of the year.

I like that UE fighter - it looks really good. If you know what I mean, It looks both more dangerous and ...well... cuter than the standard one

Heh, there's no magic to it. Tell yourself you can do anything in the 3D world, and you'll achieve your goal. In time.
Thanks for the kind remark.

Any suggestions on where to get tutorials on how to begin learning to draw in 3D?

Ah, finally I am the one answering a question about 3d graphics instead of asking a question. content sigh
If you are interested in EV graphics, I suggest you get mechanisto. It is free, simple, and you can do almost as much in it as you can in most graphics software. I suppose it is not quite as powerful as $7000 software, but it can make awesome stuff if you know what you are doing.
Get mechanisto, and play around. Make shapes, and transform them, and see what you get. There are 2 mechanisto guides in the addons section, and another one on EV shipbuilding can be found (url="http://"http://home.earthlink.net/~squibix/ev/")here(/url). Also, at that site, everything is done in mechanisto, and you can see what it can do.
The secret to learning is just screwing around with stuff for a long time. Make a sketch, and then try to make it. Imagine your object as a bunch of shapes morphed, and then peiced together.

Ah, good, I did that a couple of years ago. Hopefully before long I'll have Mechanisto figured out as well as I have AutoCAD in drafting at school. Then I'll have some fun with it.

Well, Mechanisto certainly isn't the most powerful program, but it's good for a start. I got so irritated with it (since I never learned how to make a decent sphere). I then found a free copy of Infini-D, and went from there.
I'd recommend buying Cinema 4D with a student discount (about 300 dollars, normally in the thousands) if you ever think about going into pro 3D.
First of all, thanks for the gratuitous linkage! I like what you've got with your site so far. Personally, I would have encorperated a saber in there somewhere - a cool sword + a cool name = cool logo potential. A couple of suggestions - loose the purple! Also, make the text a readable color. And put a border around the whole thing. (No sure what I mean? Check out saberstudios.modenstudios.com to see.) Other than that, looks great! -david-

Oooooo.Meowx, I like that. That looks nice. Also Skyblade, you need to center yours, I think it would make your page look nicer.

Oh, and while we're all showing our work, here are the two front legs of a four legged mech I'm working on:
Keep up the good work on yours, Skyblade!
I don't think skyblade needs a border... I like the purplish-blue, too, it looks so... high tech and intelligent, or something. You may, however, want to darken the BG and make the text a bit lighter to help with all the people who complain that they can't read it.
My main complaint about your site is the buttons. Everything else is sleek and smooth, and then you have these bulky gray buttons. Other than that, the site is beautiful.
Hey, why is everyone making "mechs"? Is there a game that uses graphics like that, or do you just make them for fun and challenge?

David- Concerning the website, I like your own re-make of the page. That banner image is awesome. I never realized dropping the brightness and contrast would have that result. Thanks for the idea, I'll keep that in mind.
Bleh, I haven't been getting anywhere with the website, so I'm going to take a shot at designing another page. I plan on making it much more simple, and less cluttered. Not only will the 56k users be happy, but the page layout should make getting around much easier (like your website. The new page looks great).
You're more than welcome for the linkage. You deserve it. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.
Azdara- Excellent mech legs. A little bulky perhaps, but that's some fine Mechanisto work.

Yeah, blast those dirty tags!
My e-mail is down. I have not been able to connect to the evula pop3 server in the past few days for who knows why. I've even tried replying e-mails already in my inbox, but they can't be sent. :frown:

Well, crap. Try the webmail thingie, if nothing else. If you don't remember where it is, come to my "toy" (you know what I'm saying) so that we don't spam up this board with off-topic stuff.

Yeah, I'll do that. Your little "proposal" in your e-mail sounded good, so I'll be happy to discuss anything relating to it on "the toy."
I'll get my evula account fixed sometime soon... It might just be an Outlook Express problem (bleh, anything originating from Microsoft is bound to have problems ;)).
