AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

There I was, tuning up my old mecha designs in POV-Ray. I created a test file to make sure the components looked right before I assembled them into an asteroid-stomping mobile armor. When I rendered it, though, only one of the two components showed up in the image (the armor that fits around the head).

I chalked it up to a conflict with my iMac's system software, which was back at 9.0, and proceeded to download the 70-meg update files to step it up to 9.2.1. Part 5 of the 9.1 self-mounting image refused to come through, however, so I had to get everything as ONE FILE over my 56k modem line.   That wasn't the end of it, though:

"You have Apple language kit files installed. Please update from the Mac OS CD."

Ka.dammit. I would have to sacrifice one of my favorite powers, the ability to type in Japanese. So be it; I removed the LK files and updated. From that point, 9.2.1 installed without a hitch. Afterwards, I revved up my trusty renderer and tried the test file again. It still didn't render correctly; I was beginning to panic. I caved and downloaded the POV-Ray 3.5 beta. One more try.....

The program calmly and happily went about rendering an image of the RSMW Lupus' head armor. The rest of the specification was nowhere to be seen.

And so, here I stand before you, forbidden to display an object consisting of both patch and finite solid objects. Woe is me.

Check to make sure that the rest of the body isn't a construction, or some other such thing. You can't see them when you render them, at least in Strata3d you don't.

The hazards of trying to do something serious with Beta software. It's beta for a reason, silly! As for the system software thing, was it worth it to update to 9.2.1 for something as silly as that?

Blood, waves, triumph. Blood, anger, lust, greed, blood. The First Antigan was born of such sin, into such sin. He saw sin, saw life, saw hope. He was Imbued with the power, the idea, the strength he would need to lead his people to absolute rule. Resurrected power, long forgotten on the torn and shattered Earth. Almighty lord, Nasher Degy, awoke, and prepared his elite power for use on his hated opponents. Almighty First, just like that. - Antigan Codex, Book of Antigan. 1:1

Huh? I don't follow. Was there a line of reasoning behind this diagnosis? Or were you just waving a dead chicken at it, hoping that it would be magically fixed? ^_^

Ok guys, he just asked us for help, you don't have to kick him for it. I'm sure one time or another you've asked some dumb questions yourselves.

Sorry, but I don't know squat about advanced graphics.
