There have been several attempts to give directions on how to get through the keypad puzzles, but to date it has remained somewhat of a mystery. After a session of playing with the disks on the floor of the tower, I was able to come up with the pattern below. Each disk is an on-off switch for 3 to 5 disks. The squares below represent the nine digits of a keypad and the "X" marks show which disks are affected by stepping on them.
It does not matter which order you step on the disks. In other words, 1-2-3 gives the same results as 3-1-2. Since it is an on-off switch, hitting a disk twice is the same as not hitting it at all. Each time you enter a puzzle room disks 7, 5, & 2 are "lit".
If you don't want the puzzles solved for you - stop reading this now
Puzzle 1) Light all disks. Step on disks 3-4-5-7-9.
Puzzle 2) Light disks in shape of "X". Step on disks 2-3-5-6-7-8-9.
Puzzle 3) Light all except center. Step on disks 2-3-6-7-8-9.
If you hit a disk in error, just step on it again. There, that was simple wasn't it!
