I'm sort of toying with converting the EV universe to the EVO map (aka EV gov'ts instead of EV0 ones). I'm also looking into adding some of the new ships which have shown up for the confederation and rebels. What do you think? Is it feasible or am I nuts?

There is, in fact, a program which converts EV to EVO plugins. It is called EVOlution. Something which went the other way, however, would be more useful for what you are doing. No, there was no program that came with Frozen Heart to convert EV plug-ins to EVO plug-ins. There was a program to convert one particular EVO plug-in into an EV plug-in.

Actually, the "converters" that came with Frozen Heart don't do any converting at all - they just change the type and creator codes from Escape Velocity (Mpďf/Mërc) to EV Override (Opďf/EsçO) and vice versa. They aren't particularly specific to Frozen Heart - the only condition is that the plugin you use them on must not rely on any EV Override-specific features.

EVOlution doesn't actually work.
You can convert an EV plugin to an EVO plugin quite simply by changing the file type. EVO will put in 0s or -1s where the data isn't long enough, although for safety's sake you should open up every resource in ResEdit for ResEdit to do this for you.
Incidentally, this will involve every mission setting bit zero, so if you're using this bit (a bad idea) you would need to manually change every instance of 0 to -1.
Obviously this will not take advantage of EVO's new features, and if your plugin depends on any of the EV resources, you'll have to port them as well.

I think people missed what I was trying to say. Oh well I'll keep working on it and maybe in X^X days I'll finish it.
This is completely feasible, but I'm not sure why you would want to do it. The EV universe was already ported in full to EVO by other people. To do the port but use the EVO map would require you to draw a corelation between every system in EV and EVO, toss the extra or map them randomly, and change the x,y coordinates and links in each resource entry... It's a lot of work for very little gain in my mind... but if it makes you happy by all means spend the time changing it.
