Today, I added a 6 'evil mercenary' përs that attack the player with kamikaze bombs - (enourmous damage; guidance: -1; lifespan 1; detonate at the end of life and blast radius 120 and the përs have an agress of 3 ) I was planning on adding that feature a long time ago already but after what happened September 11, I was questionning myself if it was still a good idea.
Keep in mind that the player has no way to get one of these bombs unless he edits the game, and that the Kamikazes rarely appear and only under very specific circumstances. Go on, give me your opinion - anyway, many things in our plug will shock some persons (like slavery, ultra-racist governments, etc.. ) but we -21st Century Digital Boy and I- think that they are only a reflection of how cruel humans can be with each other, 'specialy in dark times - in that case, an after-war.

We cannot hide from the fact that there are racist people, that there are wars, that there are suicide bombers in real life. If we exclude them from television and computer games, it won't make them disappear.
You should try to add a message in your plugin. Make the suicide bombers kids who were brainwashed, and maybe you have to rescue them and deprogram them before they hurt themselves or others. It could help give the plug-in a certain depth and feeling to relate it to such situations in real life.

Should make things a little more interesting, although I'm starting to wonder if the game's even going to be possible with strict play. They player is constantly(I mean it) being attacked by Pirates, Slavers, Outcasts, bounty hunters, some mercenaries, and that's before s/he decides to take a side...
Good idea though. Half of the challenge of SRE is going to be just staying alive...

Dont make it to hard tho, otherwise it will be impossible to play: like Galaxy's Edge where it will take you days to change a ship...

Yeah. That would be completely different from anything out there (that I know of), and would make your plug more interesting.

Yes, this plug is going to be very different. No, it is not impossible in Strict Play. With an escape pod+ auto-eject and a well chosen arsenal - because there are LOTS of outfits and not enough place on a ship - you can beat about everything in the game. The real challenge is to get a decent ship at the start of the game, as prices are high and you don't have access to missions that pay well.
By the way, in SRE, you are a mercenary. If you want, you can be a monster, an abomination. You can be a slaver if you want. You can join raiding parties on some of the poorest worlds in galaxy, taking their money away from people that need it the most. And if other mercenaries or hunters (or even kamikazes- some of the kamikazes eject) start attacking you, it is mostly to avenge their sisters, friends or brothers, to make some money so they can feed their family, or simply because they are psychos, because they have seen so much blood and corpses that they became totally mad. When I first went played The Incomplete Plug (Universal Wolf's original version of SRE) I felt he wanted to make something different then just the eternal Rebels/Federation/Pirates/Funky Aliens scenario. I hope we'll not deceive him.
This sounds quite intriguing. I await more information with bated breath.

I'd say go for it. A plug like that would be an interesting new concept, and I don't think that September 11 really changes that a lot. The scale of this would be totally different.

Sounds great!
I also have a question. Before, I had an idea of making a ship that carried a superweapon, and had an idea for making it look as if it was charging up and then shoot the big blast. Could you tell me if this would work? Okay, I was thinking that to make the charging up and the superweapon, the superweapon could be a beam or plasma ball or something like that, and then the ship would have like two other weapons. One weapon would be electricity tthat has extremely short life so that it doesn't float away from the ship. The second one would be more electricity the same as the first. These two electricities and the superweapon could have their recharge rates timed so that electricity one goes first, then number 2, then the superweapon. In the end in the game you would see the 2 electricities, and then the weapon would fire. It might not be some great idea I know, I was just wondering if it could be made to work. Thanks, and sorry pesimist_guy for putting this question on your topic, it seemed a good place to put it though.

Wow. That sounds amazing.I look forward to this...
Well, the final release won't be until proably well after Nova is released. Currently, we're working on a "preview version" for EVO. It will only have the first mission strings. The final version will have those strings, lead up to and through the Second Great War, and the aftermath. (keep in mind that the first great war was what put the galaxy in this state).
On a side note, I'm now not officially (other than descs) working on the EVO version, as I've started porting it to Ares, where the player will assume the role of various admirals or admiral-like people in the game. This may beat the Nova release, but proably not the EVO preview.
.... while I am working on the preview version. This version for EVO will 'only' allow the player to do missions and take part in events that occur before the Second Great War. In the EVN version, he/she'll be able to play all the three acts of the Silent Ruins Of Earth. Eventualy, in the Nova version, technology and cultures will evolve as the player goes through the various acts and mission strings (lots of cröns involved). The three acts are ACT I: The Aftermath ACT II: War Crimes and Act III: New Horizons.

Isn't it supposed to be "The silent RUINS of Earth"? Check the "enter" screen, something's amiss
