Anyone know of a good program I can use to do EVO missions? Because Schmelta-V is for EV,you see,and Resedit is too complex for me,and EV-Edit is (I once saw someone post that EV-Edit is like playing Russian Roulette. A friend of mine,on my geography field trip to the west coast(this being the west coast of New zealand,a sparsely populated area inhabited by druggies, greenies, and hippies, often at the same time, came up with a version of Russian Roulette he called "West Coast Roulette". Basically, you get a double-barreled shotgun, load one chamber need I say more? The point is,with Russian Roulette you at least have a chance but I digress) EV-Edit is not so good. Please help me!

I asked this question and just had Macavenger try and make me use ResEdit and some other people talk about software that doesn't exist anymore. EVOGod let's you edit missions, but you have to register it and it has annoying bugs. Good luck, anyway.

Back on topic: I've heard people talk about making the missions in Schmelta-V and moving them to EV:O with ResEdit. It's not that hard to make them in ResEdit, or you could look for Mission Control, by R&R; Software, it's no longer on their homepage though...

Humm, another Kiwi. Ain't NZ great? I'm in Little River. It's a tiny town about 75 K from Christchurch, next to lake Wairewa. There's nothing to do around here, which is why I'm a webboard junkie. Humm I might try ResEdit.

ResEdit is really the only viable program there is - at the moment... <cryptic grin>

Just for clarity, I'm <cryptic grin>ing on my own behalf here; nobody else on these boards knows what I'm talking about - yet...
The only other good mission editor I know of is R&R;'s Mission Control. Be warned, it's still in beta, and has been known to be temperamental. But it's made by R&R;, works decently well, and looks nice. Did I mention it's made by R&R;? It's available from the R&R; software page and, I believe, the EV:O addons, though I'm not sure.

I don't think Mission Control is currently available; I believe DrRalph took it down because it was buggy and he was too busy working on Nova editors to fix it.
Is David Arthur making his own editor?

(This application is still under development; the release information has not yet been decided, some features are incomplete in the build shown in these screenshots, and the feature set is still subject to change.)

Will the window for the description text allow a full desccription or will it be limited to the size of the standard EVO DLOGs?

Hmm, does that mean you'll accept suggestions?
Well, too bad, 'cause I'm gonna make 'em anyway.
One thing that scenario developers would probably find useful would be a mission "tree" built on the basis of mission bits, showing which missions lead to which. Sanity checks like making sure that a mission isn't, say, dependent on a bit that it is also dependent on being clear (this happened to me a couple times). Make sure it can accept 0 as a mission bit (this annoyed me about schmelta).

No limits on dësc size - see the scrollbar in the editor window?

This might get a bit complex, and you can already do this sort of thing with Pontus's EV MissionBits Reporter and R&R;'s BitMap.

I could probably do this - I 'll experiment around with it a bit.

This it can already.

Actually, you CAN make EVO missions in Shmelta-V, just do this: (list=1) () Make a copy of EV Data () Copy everything in Override Datas 1 and 2 into the EV Data file, replacing everything in it. () Do your mission thing. () Go into ResEdit, and change your "EV" plugin into an Override plugin. (/list=a)
I believe this is what Martin Turner does when he makes his plugins.
God bless,

Yes, but if you want to take advantage of the new features in EV Override, you have to edit it in ResEdit, and may even have to edit flags, which I believe is one of the things most people don't like about ResEdit.

I haven't yet decided how I'll handle testing and release for this application, but rest assured that whatever I do, I'll announce it on this board.
A few editors that have come up in recent discussion:
This thread starts off as a question about EV-Edit, but it turns into the almost inevitable debate on EV-Edit's merits, which then leads to those of all editors: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/002021.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...TML/002021.html(/url)
Another thread is about the release of Plugmaker. I haven't checked this one out yet: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/002012.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...TML/002012.html(/url)
