Hi, I wanted to make a simple beginner plug-in to ev or evo. I dunno what app I should use for the graphics thought. Will a 2d vector app like illustrator do, or do I need anything 2d? Im not looking to make some MAGAMA masterpiece her mind u, just a little fun plugin.
Any other tip will be greatly appreciated.

You really need a 3D app to make plugins that look good, for starting I would recomend Strata 3D (http://www.strata.com/), it's free and unrestricted, and to make textures use Graphic Convertor (http://www.lemkesoft.de/), shareware $20 I think.
If you want to step up, consider Cinema 4D GO, or an old copy of Infini-D or RayDream, with something like Macromedia Fireworks for textures.

Ok, Thnx. Btw, I do have acess to photoshop at school so its not a problem for making textures. Ive tried cinema 4d GO demo, and it looks good. Ill think abvout it.
Once I have models textured and done, in what format do I save 'em how do I import them? I dont think I saw it in the EV bible altho i might be wrong. Anywho, thax alot.
Strata 3D: a bit hard at first but you get used to it... go to the link below to see some of the graphics created with it I dont think it'll do well with ships tho

You have to render the ship as a 36 frame animation (frames 0-35 in C4D, moving 10 degrees clockwise each time). Save as a Quicktime Movie (highest quality) or as individual PICT files. There are plenty of utilities in the EV and EV:O software archives to convert these to the sprite and mask images needed. To place them into the plugin, use ResEdit to put them in to a PICT resource in the plugin file. More information on the resource types and numbers can be found in the EV bible.
Thanx. I am pretty familiar with Resedit, although I haven used it for EV extensively yet, but putting the images in shouldnt be too hard. It was just the way to transfor them to sprites that confused me, but with all the utilities I found it should be no problem.
But as for Strata, why would it not be good for ships? Anywho, Ill also get the C4D Go! demo and try it out.
Thanx alot for all the help.
I might as well put this question here.
Who knows of a high-quality 3D app that allows point-level control and POV-Ray export (preferably with bicubic patches)?

I believe the shareware fee is actually $35 if I'm not mistaken.
