I tried posting this on the EV board, but apparently no one over there knows, so I thought I'd try all the other plug makers over here.
Anyway, I'm building an EV plug and would like to have a screenshot or two of it to preview, but of course EV doesn't allow Apple events (or whatever they're called), and so screenshots in the game won't work. Tried Snapz Pro 2, didn't work. I've heard that there is a way to set up an AppleScript to take screens that will work even during EV. Can anyone here tell me if this is true, and if so, how to do it?

Tried Snapz Pro 1 ? I recall it exists something that fits what you're looking for, i'll browse my archives to find a clue... Hold tight, it could need some days (i'm on the brink of a flat change... ) Ras

I've been trying to do that too, except with EVO. SP 1 works anywhere in the spaceport, but not during the action. However, I did get it to work once. If you could port it to Ares (which could be extreemly difficult or very easy, depending on the plug and what you want screenshorts of) then you could take the screenshots. But then again, you'd have to know how to use Hera, which is about 10x more complicated than making EV/O plugs.

Porting it to Ares wouldn't exactly be the optimal solution, because I'm not overly familiar with it and I'd like to grab part of the EV sidebar too, and I don't think you can put that in Ares. If it's possible, I'm certainly not experienced enough to do so. If you got it to work once with Snapz Pro, I may just keep trying that a few times while ras looks through his archives.
I've never found a good way of taking screenshots from EV and Override. The best solution I've found is to just construct them with an image editor.

Well, after thinking about this some more, it occurred to me that EV would have a really hard time of trying to block out anything OS X could do, with it's protected memory and such, so I tried Snapz Pro X. Works good, the only problem of course being that EV doesn't run that well in Classic - but good enough to grab a few screens. I suppose I didn't think of this from the beginning because EV doesn't run good in Classic, so I just didn't think of that angle. Anyway, Snapz Pro X is really w00t, and does work for EV screenshots. Just don't use it on a strict play pilot, because when taking screens in combat, Snapz can freeze the screen, but not the action - so your ship is likely to die while you're taking the shot, unless you're fast. Screen usually looks odd when doing this, and you will have to go back to the menu and re-enter your ship afterwards, but the screenshots come out fine.
In case any of you are interested in seeing my results so far, I've got them on my plug's new website (url="http://"http://members.home.net/e-gamerguy1/ev/alien_invaders/main.html")here(/url). I'll probably be taking some more before I'm done. Feedback on the content of plug and site are welcome, just remember that this will be my first release plug, and also my first attempt at a full website.
Didn't Andrew say something about deleting a resource to get Snapz to work?
