Hey everyone -
I was looking to have some music play as a planet's sound when you land on the planet - to try to better establish the feel I'm tring to get with the planet. So I got all the music recorded on the computer, I compresseed everything in system sound/IMA format (so it was still a system sound). I got everything (8 song excerpts, 6+ minutes total) to 2.7 MB. I previewed the planets in EVO Develpoer's map, and it worked excellent in establishing the feel. Anyway, I went to beta test the plug and landed on one of the planets, and all I got was a horrible screeching sound.
I went back and re-compressed everything in ľ-law/system sound format. This time the quality was still acceptable and it was about 1 MB larger. Then in EVO the music actually came through, but only with terribly distortion.
If I were to leave the music in PCM/system sound format (the format that the sounds the stock game are in) they would top 10 MB. So I'm wondering if anyone knows any other way to compress the music. With MACE-3 and MACE-6 the music doesn't even sound good in EVO developer's map - I don't even want to know what it would sound like in EVO.
Oh yeah, the title music plays fine in IMA format. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be very appreciated. I know it's possible, because it was done in Mugabi and Destiny.
