this is just an idea but one of you should develop a better babylon 5 plug than is available for override.its like my favorite plug but it needs help.just a suggestion

I agree the last ver of the B5 plug was good but could be better. I think I will try my hand at making a new B5 plug, but after Nova comes out. I am in the process of gathering ALL the 3D models for the B5 ships.
Ya you better GuyMan cuase if i don't get a really good B5 plugin theres going to be some serious whoop ass going down............just kidding

B5 is defenitly in need of some ship graphics. Sounds like a worthwhile project. Good luck
Thanks for the pressure This would be my first plug-in. I have most of the models now. I found an awesome site with huge list of them. Most I never even heard of. I hope the w00t tools are as good as they say. Just got Photoshop too heard I'd need it.

Hmm... Babylon 5 might not be the best plugin to start off with. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but there is more to making a decent plugin than doing the graphics, and getting missions to work well is something that comes with experience. I dunno, though. If enough people round here were willing to lend a hand... What's everyone think?

Or you could get the authors permission, and start out from the original plug. That way you just fix all the bugs (there were a lot), and replace the graphics. Maybe later on mess around with missions, etc. But it would be easier to just do that in the beginning.

Well, for better graphics, grab yourself a copy of Lightwave (hehe, got a spare few k?) and look at (url="http://"http://www.ap3d.com/betterspace/")http://www.ap3d.com/betterspace/(/url), it even has a tutorial on how to build the WhiteStar (bloody hard...)

It's really pricey. I was looking at a catalogue and it was $2,499 ! Much cheaper to have Carrara (though even that's way to much, $899).
I spotted it at the official site. You can get it for $1495 if you already own Photoshop. Me has ordered it.
Heh... still a bit beyond my resources. Looks like I'm stuck with good ol' Strata for a while.
Seriously though, it might be worth rebuilding the old B5 plug, because it was a pretty good one despite the bugs. Although this time I think someone should actually bother to give the planets names... Who made the original?

Sephyr the original plug was cool but there is so much more that can be done in Nova. I'd rather not just fix up the old one which can be found here by the way. (url="http://"http://starfury78.tripod.com/b5plug/index.html")http://starfury78.tr...plug/index.html(/url) I should be able to make many more missions for the other races and throw in quite a few surprises. Hehe. Zog. Oops forgot to metion I may also try a few movies or cut scenes for major plot development points.

Oh yes, there's a lot more that could be done with Nova. All I'm saying is that a lot of plugs tend to get through the graphics stage pretty quickly and then jam up at the mission-making stage. Then again, I've read through the provisional EVN bible and the new mission-scripting system looks pretty good. Don't let me dissuade you from doing it. Good luck to ya!
i would be happy to help in the actual creation of the new B5 plugh-in, not the graphics though, i am good at the mecanics of the game, and i can try with nova when it comes out, I'm very good at EVo and EV.
------------------ Have you ever heard of a saftey on that GUN?!
I gave a new B5 plug a shot a while ago, made quite a few ships in infini-D if you want them.
I contacted the Chan's as well for info. There is a group called the PIX who are supposedly still working on the original plug. Last I saw they had some really cool stuff planned, so it might be worthwhile to figure out who in that team is still left...
I'll try and UL the latest version of the plug I started sometime today for you to play with on my website. Once it's up it'll be in my downloads section ( (url="http://"http://www.sfu.ca/~kberg")www.sfu.ca/~kberg(/url) )

My plug is up on the page now. Let me know if you want to cannibalize parts. I'm fairly proud of the map as well, spent a good deal of time trying to work out all the border skirmishes from the show and overlay them onto a 2D map of the galaxy in order to figure out where everyone might be...
This plugin is a total replacement, and will require a LOT of ram due to some mucking around with NEBU resources... This plug is around 15MB uncompressed, and is NOT COMPLETE. Missions, spobs, etc will be fairly mucked up. Also of note is that the map is HUGE, well over 800 systems (the remaining 200 were left unused for mission related visbit stuff...) Some graphics were borrowed (temporarily) from other plugs, including the original B5 plug. I had plans to replace everything, but never quite got around to modelling the rest of the ships. I still have all my models in Infini-D format (all the ones in my ships pages at least) so if you are interested in using the graphics just give me an email.
You can find the plug here: (url="http://"http://www.sfu.ca/~kberg/Downloads/B5_Plug.sit")B5_Plug.sit(/url)

Nice start. A few bugs, but it's far from done so it's completely and totally excusable. Good luck with finishing it!
If anyone planning on making a B5 plug is interested, I have come into possession of a 2D map of the B5 galaxy in one of the official B5 wars game things. It's pretty complete as regards the governments, but doesn't have too many systems marked... but anyone could pad it out a bit and take the systems on the map as just the major ones...
If anyone wants it, drop me a mail and I'll scan it for you.
