Possibility of "Emperor" Status?

I was just thinking about something as I looked at the EVN Bible. I only just noticed it, but what I'm referring to is this:

Quote

5 - Naval Fighter Carried by another ship. Reserved for internal use - do
not use!
6 - Escort Flies with the player. Reserved for internal use - do not
use!

My thoughts are, if you set a ship class, say a fighter, to appear after you did a series of strings along the lines of you becoming an emperor, and set it as AI type "naval fighter", would you then be able to control them by pressing F when you came across them randomly?

I'm sure you would not, but that would be truly incredible. You could have them appear in systems that you've "conquered" and they would fight with you.....

Does anybody know whether this would actually work or not?

Hmmm...Good question. I've often considered using this same idea in the Dreden War, but it will take a serious ResEdit to answer that for you (which isn't me. :)). Diddly could probably tell you...

No, it wouldn't. In fact I should remove that text from the Nova Bible because it only confuses people.

Ah well.... It would have been interesting if it had worked, but never mind. I don't quite understand why it wouldn't work, because there are many weapons/fighters that work without having appropriate outfits, but they at least work for the mission which they are intended to work, such as the alien weapons in EV. Of course, I can't quite remember if the Alien Fighter Bay had it's own outfit slot in EV, so that is probably why it wouldn't work. Thanks Matt.

Nope. I tried once. Baad things! I now respect the "Internal use only!" sign. That ought to teach me not to do that (you'd have thought the incident at 3-mile island would have taught me, but nope ;)).

So, what exactly are those AI types reserved for? Or is that classified information? 😛

Pretty much like it says, AI 5 is for fighters launched from a bay, either by you or someone else(I think someone else) and AI 6 is for hired/captured escorts.

They're used internally, but merely setting a ship to use AI type 5 or 6 won't make it belong to the player.

Accept the fact that there is a lot going on inside the EV engine that isn't changeable via plugins. 🙂

NOOOOOOOOO!! 😛

Another question.

If I started wading very deeply through Resedit and the like to play around with the idea of making random escorts, would I a) have any chance whatsoever of being successful, and 🆒 would the makers of EVO be extremely angry at me? Just a question...

(this is just for another free plug-in, of course)

Exactly what would happen if you gave an ship AI type 5 or 6? Would it show up?
