Being an ashamed PC owner, the only game I actually own from Ambrosia is PoG. But there are some problems. 1. Although it says so, Win PoG is not on CD format yet, and to get it, you must dl it. 2. The Unregistered PoG can not use any plugins EXCEPT Trinity. (Regardless of what the game and the site say.) And 3. (This is the big one.) (I got this one with help from Stark Bledfast.) Even if you have the registered version, Win PoG is simple not compatible with certain plugins. Any plugin that adds NPCs, items, spells, weapons, and things like this work. But (This is mostly cheat plugins so I don't care too much.) any plugin that requires you to press buttons or your keyboard don't work. For example, Gold and Titania don't work, while Trinity, Saphire, and Special Quest Items work.
Also Note: The popular program Download Accelerator, will not respond if used to download anything from the Ambrosia Site. (I don't know why.) And is an employee from Ambrosia read this, I'd also like to say, I was sent an e-mail, that after some problems with my PoG CD, I'd be sent a custom Win PoG CD. But for some reason, it STILL didn't work. Maybe you sent me the wrong CD? Oh well, after some work, I managed to DL PoG. (Although the rumored PoG movies would have been nice.....)
OK, I'm done. I'll shutup now.

Although this should be posted on the PoG board, probably, your issues with the game make it would like you have not registered. Oh well.
I assume the problem with the plugins- (don't yell at me, I've never played PoG in my life, let alone know what plugins are(like)) -is that when you use them on a PC, the data contained within the files may not be compatible with how PC files work. I dunno, though.

PC's have a single data fork. Macs have both a data and a resource fork (I believe).

Mr. Phantompenguin,
This is correct. Unfortunate, but correct. Since Ambrosia told you that they would create a custom CD for you that will work, and the CD they sent to you did not, I would write them an e-mail explaining that it did not work and ask them to send you one that will. Please make sure to specify specifically that you need a windows formatted CD(windows will not read a mac formatted cd even if the cd contains files made for windows). I would think that they will take care of you.
2. The Unregistered PoG can not use any plugins EXCEPT Trinity. (Regardless of what the game and the site say.)
This is incorrect. I have downloaded the windows version and have it running on a computer at work. The unregistered version of PoG has a limitation in that you can only use 1 plug-in at a time. So if you are running Trinity then you will be unable to use any other plug-ins until you register it. But if you disable Trinity then you can run the plug-in of your choice. I've had 2 of my own plug-ins verified to work under windows(neither are publicly released yet), and I've also had Volume Control working on the unregistered version of PoG for windows.
There is, however, a limitation which is discussed in your next problem...
And 3. (This is the big one.) (I got this one with help from Stark Bledfast.) Even if you have the registered version, Win PoG is simple not compatible with certain plugins. This is correct. This is a serious limitation that will restrict "beyond vanilla PoG" play. I have notified the developers of this problem though, and they should be able to take care of the problem. I do not know if the upcoming update to PoG will fix this issue or if it will be fixed with a later update(since the update should be out real soon, and I just notified them of this problem last week I believe). But regardless, I expect it to be fixed.
One curious note though, is that Trinity seems to work just fine. Trinity adds 2 new keys, "V" and "C" for the conjuror and ranger classes. And they seem to work alright. So perhaps this is a case of the plug-in developers just not knowing how to make their plug-ins windows compatible. I'll do some checking around though and post back if I find anything. I'll also make a note of it on the Coldstone board.
Also Note: The popular program Download Accelerator, will not respond if used to download anything from the Ambrosia Site. (I don't know why.)
Can't help you here. I don't use download accelerator. I would suggest sending an email to help@ambrosiasw.com and make them aware of this. If there is something on their end that they can do, and that they know how to do, they may be able to fix it for you. Or you may just have to disable it when downloading from Ambrosia.
One question for you though, does this only happen with the web site, or have you tried downloading from their ftp site?

Correct. The Macintosh dual-fork system is pretty much unique. However, I believe that Coldstone (and therefore Pillars of Garendall) uses only the data fork, ignoring the resource fork as it is lost when a file is moved to a Windows-based computer.

Hmmm. Your one-plugin for the unregistered version is correct Mr. Bledfast, but I only tested Gold and Trinity when I had the unregistered version, which is why I couldn't get mine to work. I really don't care for the PoG CD anymore, since I have it downloaded. I simply don't want to hassle anymore over two 10-second movies. And Mr. Bledfast has once again done it again. I noticed the Trinity thing also, and, take notice, that Speedy Keys also works fine on my PC. Hmmm, the situation has yet to be resolved. Finally, I tested DL Accelerator on every PoG link I could get my hands on, none of them worked. But, I'd like to note: The popular program Download Accelerator, will not respond if used to download anything from the Ambrosia Site. (I don't know why.)" May not be true. I have only tested download accelerator on PoG, and I have never gotten around to testing it on other games.

I took notice. This confirms my suspicions that windows does not recognize shift keys(ie, any key that you need to use the shift button to utilize, such as ! and @). Because in a plug-in I authored(but not publicly released yet), I have the (delete) key mapped out. And the windows version of PoG recognizes it just fine.
I had not yet tested normal keys, though I suspected they would work just fine. Your confirmation of this just confirms my suspicions.
This just means that until this is fixed, plug-in developers are going to have to avoid the shift keys if they want their plug-ins to be universally compatible.
Thanks!
It's only the shift keys that are non-windows compatible? But than what about Gold? I have yet to get that to work. Maybe there are a number of keys.
