Very basic help needed

the story:
I'm currently expiriencing a probel mwith a rush mission wich requires a 1 day/jump ship
and I am in a 3 day/jump UE cruiser. Since I don't want to trade my ship I decided this would be the ideal test for my currently undeveloped, never used plug-creation abilities.

the plan:
I'ld like to make a plug (or change in the EVO data 2 file) wich would make my cruiser do 1 jump/day. I know I could download some cheatplug but I want to try this myself.

the problem:
How do I do this? When I open up the UE-cruiser file in the EVO data2 file with Resedit I
get these nice numbers. And i can't open the data 2 file with Shipwrite. And even if I get the chance to open it up and alter things, what must I alter to make every UE-cruiser take 1 jump/day? After the missions I'll just restore everything with backups.

As you see, I'm a big newbie to this and I don't know where to start. I tried Resedit and Shipwrite. I don't want to use Ev-edit because some poeple say it doesn't works.

What do I put in here?

Shipwrite isn't opening it becasue its an EVO Data File, not an EVO Plug-in File. You could change that, and it would open.

There is an easier way, however. Assuming you have EVO 1.0.2, there should be a "Plug-in Developer's ƒ" in your EVO Folder. Open it, and open the ResEdit "Templates" file inside. Then open EVO Data 2 with ResEdit.

Paste the TMPL resources from the Template File into EVO Data 2, then open up the shďp resource you wish to edit. You'll get a nice interface instead of the hexidecimal.

To change the jump time, just set the ship's mass to something under 60. That should lower the jump time to one day.

I know there's a flag in there that lets a ship do really fast jump. I don't remember which though :frown:. Look in the EVO bible (also in the plugin development folder) and you'll find it.

Actually, OF is right. The amount of game time it takes a ship to jump from one system to another (as expressed by the date that appears at the bottom of the screen when you arrive in-system) is determined solely by a ship's mass. The fast-jumping, semi-fast jumping, and slow jumping flags only affect the lag time between when a ship initiates jump and when they start streaking across the screen.

FYI, the actual "real time" it takes a player's ship to jump from one system to another (as determined by the watch on your wrist or the clock on your wall) is determined by the warp in and warp out sound effects. Replace them with a shorter sound and the ship jumps faster.
