Is there any way to create another spob type, besides the station and planet?

No. EV/EVO spöb resources only support stations and planets, so the comm strings, etc. will show one or ther other depending on how the flag is set.
You can of course use picts of different types of objects - comets or asteroids, for instance, but hailing or attempting to land will bring up text describing the object as a station or planet.

That's what I thought... but I wanted to be sure.
The fact that EV won't reconize the object as an asteroid ect doesn't matter- the people playing really don't care.

Most people don't even read the descriptions, let alone what class the planet or station is. If it looks cool, it's good enough.

You CAN change the description that EV gives when you hail the planet/station by replacing the STR# resources that hold those names: they start out with stuff like 'class M planet' in them. Of course, you lose one class of planet for every one you change, but nobody's going to miss them.
Other than that, nope.

I hope to heck you're wrong about that. I devoted many, many, many hours (days? weeks?) to writing Descs for planets, stations, and bars in Mille Terrae - trying to give each govt/race for which I'm responsible a unique flavor as well as giving each spob its own personality. Glossing over the Spob descs will cut down on the player's enjoyment of the plug.
There are 64 distinct Spob Types (0-63) and like Sephyr said, it's a small manner to create appropirate STRs for a (Type 2 Asteroid) or a (Class B Comet). However, Joe is correct; EV/O will only recognize a stellar as either a planet or a station when trying to land, etc. (ie, "You're moving too fast to land on this station." or "You're not close enough to land on this planet.")

well, some people read the descriptions - i was one of them. when i used to play, i read the desc's and stuff... so they're worth it. and what you do, is have the mission descriptions really cryptic, and they can find clues in the bar, or planet desc's. just an idea there

Au contraire. I read the descs. It increases the pleasure, especially if the author is having a bout of subtle joke-itis (like most of those in FH).
