I am somewhat curious after seeing the amount of trashed plug-ins with graphics that will never be used, and after looking through the EV Images gallery, seeing how many people are making some fairly cool landing picts.
So here is my question, and I would appreciate as many responses as possible: If there was a site, either on this site, or another site that had constantly updated ship, outfit and planet/landing graphics, would you use it? For example, say you need 5 landing picts, so simply go to the site, click landing picts, then choose the category of landing picts you are interested in, browse through the previews and download the five picts you like best, viola!
And, if you have cancelled a plug-in and want to donate your left over graphics, you simply upload them on the site just as you would an add-on file.
My opinion, it would be very cool and maybe even get people to make ship and outfit graphics would might not have before.

that sounds cool to me. i got lost in mechanisto, and i always want to use new ship graphics. i'm too honest to steal from other plugs, so a website would be appreciated.

I would definately download from it. I currently get all my graphics from EV shipyards on EVula's web ring. Or hack them out of plugins that i like.
One thing I noticed is that people do not include their names/contact info in the archives that they make available for download. That makes it hard to give proper credit or obtain permission to use it. After downloading, it may be a week before I actually do anything with the archive, then tracking down references is a pain.
You will have to invest some time into marketing your site so people know about it and upload.
As one of them 'Graphics people' from the EV image gallery I think that this would be a good idea for people like me who come up with a ship or design or whatever, but its not related to any plug.
The only problem with this is that the creator needs some kind of credit, and that could be worked out in some way I am sure though. Another suggestion is . . . simply look at the EV Image Gallery, and ask one of the people there if they would mind making a few things, but a more centralised site for this would be a good thing I think, as well as getting graphics that are more related to the story, descriptons, custom jobs etc.

Not everyone would give credit to the maker of the pictures, which might make them angry. ----- I thinkg the idea is wonderful for the people would don't want to learn how to make good landscapes. I would not include a section on ship graphic, but you could. (I feel that ships are what make plugins unique.)

You must make a ship section. A few unique ships are enough to add character, but not all ships in the plug must be unique. For example, the graphic for the Confed BaseShip from EVGE appears as the HammerHead Carrier in Empire, and has a bit part in M&D.; The turbolaser outfit is shared by EVGE and Pale. Nearly everybody reuses the standard EV ships.
Btw, you must also have an outfits section. Making a new plug is hard enough without having to redesign the entire universe from primordial bits too.

I would donate(my pitiful ships) to a website like this. I would also use other ships people upload.
People are complaining about how it's hard to find who made the ship so that they can give them credit, if you just give the webpage in the credits, you could just list the people that made pics on the page. I think I lost myself(and others), does anyone follow me or even understand that confusing sentence?
