Problems with making new ships

I am using ResEdit 2.1.3.

My mission: Make a new ship.

Problem: Game decides to crash.

I did everything said in the FAQ about making a ship. I used the Kestrel sprite and mask info. The spin resource matches the Kestrel other than the ID and name of the ID, the ID number matching the new ships. I have an extra spin respurce i cant get rid of in the plug, 156, which is one greater than the ID# of the new ship which would be 155. For some reason i cant modify, clear, or change the last ID on lists of ID's, and I am afraid that could be a problem with the loading of the graphics. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

That's strange, the only program I've had problem like that with was EV-Edit, never Res-Edit. I dunno, I've never heard of this problem in Res-Edit.

Hey Andrew, how much do those Karma Sticks cost again?

A few things to check:
The sprite PICT cannot be more than 640x480 pixels
The spin must match with the sprite PICT with width, height and sprite width and height
Make sure all flags are set right and all the resources referenced have the correct IDs.

hmm, do you need the kestrel? if not, then just make your ship id the same as the kestrel's and it'll use that spin resource

Wierd! So you don't need that one? If you don't need that extra spin then add in an extra ship that has an outrageously high tech level, and price. It can be really simple to make. And won't show up if you haven't made any dudes/fleets/pers for it.

If you do want the 156 resource, I can think of a few ways to make it work. First try adding in an extra resource (make it 157 so it's at the end). Because 156 isn't at the end, you might be able to edit it. Once done, erase 157. If that doesn't work, try this. Change the ship resource from 155 to 156. It will than use spin 156.

Also, if you try one of the fixes and it still doesn't work. Download Plug Checker. It will find any problems you have, including spin problems.

Sorry if I'm completely misunderstanding the problem. Please tell me how it works out (or if I completely didn't get the problem).

Are you saying you can't delete a resource? If both the plug and the resource aren't locked, I'd get a hard disk utility. Fast.
