i want to change a few systems from one government to another, using only one mission. How can i change, for example, a confederation system to a new government's system? does it take more than one mission?

You have to use visbits. Make two copies of the system you want to change. Edit them so that you have the old syst and one with whats different. Set the field of "visbit" in the older system to 1000+(MISN ID) Set the field of "visbit" in the new version to MISN ID. Test it to make sure it worked

Another note: don't make the system that the player is in change.
why can't you change the system the player is in? that seems to be a good idea.
The system he is in would disapeer. More than likely, he would be stuck their and would not be able to go anywhere.
Actually, as I recall, all the spobs vanish from the screen (but not the radar). You can leave the system with no problem. However, unless the desired effect is of the planet disintigrating or cloaking when the player takes off, this is generally frowned upon.

You can't change the system the player is in because it isn't really possible to change systems, only to hide one system and replace it with an almost identical system.
