How do I give a number to a new SPOB?
------------------
Uhmmm, perhaps you should be more specific.
The easiest way to create new spöbs that I've found is using EV Developer's Map. Very easy interface for editing both systems and spobs and I haven't had a bug happen on it yet.
------------------ So I take it this means you don't have a ratchet...
If you using ResEdit and want a different ID# for a spöb (or anything) you can use the get info command (apple I).

OK - suppose I draw/develop a new station. How do I alloocate its number so that in my SPOB resource I can say e.g. "type xx"?

Get your hands on Pontus Ilbring's EVO Formula Calc.
He's the same developer who released the Developer's Map app metioned above on Lyssa's post.
With Formula Calc you can generate all the numbers needed for a new Spob Type.
