What'd I do wrong?! IFF and Density Scanner gone?

Okay, yes, you're talking to the clueless. I've used ResEdit a few times before, but consider me a total novice, please. Here's what's happening. Just for my own play I've been hacking Magma 2.0.1 (no, I'm not distributing their work, this is just for me) and adding Darien's EVO Cheater stuff as well as my own supership with the graphics from Ships for Shipbuilders. Everything seems to work just great, I can get all the mega ship of death stuff I want for nothing and no mass with Magma graphics and sound... except my IFF Decoder and Density Scanner won't work! I -have- them, but damned if I can get anything but static on my display. I've checked the stuff in ResEdit and it seems to be right by the EVO Bible. I'm at a loss. Can someone help?

Did you modify either of their oütf resources? If you didn't, there might be a conflict with another resource you created or changed. I'm guessing here, since I don't have all that much to go on. If you e-mail the plug to me I could take a look, but I can't promise anything without having some idea of where the problem is.

I'll go ahead and email it to you so you can see. I checked and couldn't find any conflicts, but maybe you can find out more. Thanks 🙂

Once, when I was fooling around with the cheater, I bought a ton of sensor upgrades, and that seriously messed up my radar screen. That could be the problem.

I've only got one sensor upgrade. Oddly, though, when I checked my pilot info 'extras' I had several unnamed things. It would list for example "25 neutron turrets, 5, 5 missile launchers..." which leads me to wonder if it's my ship file that's screwed up. Anyone who can take a look at that and see if I screwed up there?

It sounds like your problem may, in fact, be with outfits. I'll see what I can find. SK, do you mean the generic sensor upgrade? I thought you could only get one of those.

The cheater hacks often take off the limits on how many you can buy, although I usually go through and fix that on cheats on certain items that you definately don't need more than one of, like the IFF decoder, Density Scanner, Systems Upgrade, etc. I've tried it with a max of 1 and a max of 999 on the hack, though for both malfunctioning items. No difference. Occassionally my ship vanishes as well, which I'm still trying to figure out.

I just realized how damn huge that file is, even stuffed, so for convenience I'm sticking it in my webshare file for those of you who need a copy of it to check. Please please please don't consider this a distribution, most of the work was done by others and it's their property. I'm only using it for myself, but those who would like to have a look at the file and see if they can spot problems, you can download it from (url="http://"http://CBL150.pool004.CH001-riverside.dhcp.hs.earthlink.net/magmahack.sit")http://CBL150.pool00...t/magmahack.sit(/url) and it's about 4.5 megs. Note: if you're going to give it a run on EVO, be sure to up the memory allotment to compensate for the Magma graphics.

Hmm... either someone else is downloading it or you don't have much bandwidth. It's downloading at less than a KB per second, and I'm on a LAN!

On another note, Wyvern had a similar problem, but just fixed it:

It should speed up now.. doh, I just realized my mail was trying once more to send it to you via email, which was sucking the heck out of the bandwidth. That's now over with, so it should be back to cable speed hopefully.

I set the flag to $0004 to keep them with me if I bought a new ship. However, I might have reset it to $0000 in the fiddling around to see if that was the issue. I also might have reset the max purchase to 999.. like I said, I was fiddling around quite a bit. Anyhow, it's been tried with both those flags and with max purchase set to 1 and 999, but feel free to try those again and see if it works for you.

No, not similar at all. I had outfit items that were vanishing off the ship completely, Lyssa just has too much static (as I understand it, anyway).

True. The items still list in my pilot info under extras. They just aren't doing their jobs. I'm going through in ResEdit on the cheater plugin I copied the stuff off of. He switched around several of the resources, so I think what I might wind up doing is just adding in the outfits I want to be cheaters one by one using straight across replacement on the resource numbers. Lot of work, but hopefully it won't confuse the dang thing so much. As it is, it screws up my ship's standard equipment, so I'm redoing that as well. Let's see if doing it all myself works out.
