Holy Crap!

If anyone is worried about Nova programming being too complicated, try Ares programming. I just just downloaded Hera and it took me over 2 hours to read the Hera Reference(the equivalent of the EVO bible). I think anyone who can program for Ares should have no problem with Nova. Either that or Ares programming isn't really as complicated as it sounds.

Wait a second...

Oy! I'm counting on Nova programming being similar to EVO, just with lots of new features, and huge changes to the old ones. In other words, just like EVO, but totally different!

Yeah... I hope!
I hope I can find EVN on my Mac Addict soon so I can star writing plugs for it!

That's fairly accurate. 🙂

Actually, because of Dr. Ralph's cool tools, making Plugs for EV Nova will probably be even easier than for EV/EVO!

A Question: Is there going to be an editor made by Ambrosia Software for Nova? (Forgive me if this has already been asked...)

R&R; will be making the editors.

Which means what? Will we have to PAY for the editors? I mean some of us are only able to afford free or cheap software, and having to pay for editors is just another dent in the checkbook that don't like seeing. I mean I know that there's alot of blood, sweat and tears put into the editors made, but having it be a free program means that just making the program and having it be well used and liked is a priceless reward to the program's creator which in turn means that he made the program out of the goodness in his heart which = he worked his ass off to make it good= great program. If you add being paid for the program it can decrease the quality b/c the programmer has an incentive to get the program done, not well done, but it could be half-way decent and have the user pay to get all the features and not worry about the program being excellent. How would the user know if it was the best the programmer could do if there's not much else out there to try. See the problem. Money= possibility in decreased quality in EVN editors. This whole thing is IMO, BTW so if I made anyone mad, I apologize for making them mad, but I don't apologize for expressing my views. So no offense to anyone who would take it.

Cheers,

Heh. No one said they would cost money and someone is already complaining about it...

I recall seeing some pictures of the editor. It looked pretty easy, quite like EV Editor V9.0 would IF IT WORKED!!! (arrg I hate that thing) But it was just a simple check the box, and scroll menus thing. I believe (not sure though) that it is just very detailed resedit templates (or at least I think it was when I saw it ( so don't get mad if I'm wrong) If someone downloaded those pics please place them on a site so I can re-look at them.

Hm, R&R; editors kick ass...
Even if they cost something I'd buy them... Their most likely worth their money... (unlike EV Edit)

As the person with the most experience at using the R&R; Nova editors I just want to add that they are better than anything you've ever used in creating plugins before. They are ~awesome~! And I do not say that lightly...

Then in that case, I don't care if it costs money! If someone with plenty on xp using the stuff says they're really good, then I'll buy the software if it costs $. If its free, then thats ok as well. 😄

These editors ARE templates for ResEdit...I'll be intersted to see how they work. I remember trying to muck about in EV-Edit to long. If Frandall says they're awesome than they must be better, by some odd logic.

To be strictly accurate, they're editors for ResEdit. The difference is that a template is a simple system designed entirely in ResEdit, while an editor is written in a programming language like C/C++ and can do much fancier things. Templates have such problems as the "invalid rectangle" message that appears when you close many EV/O resources.

Not all of the editors are limited to ResEdit. Included in the R&R; Software Nova editing suite will be at least four (possibly five) stand-alone applications that will provide you the developers with added capability that ResEdit alone does not have... 🙂

Like I said, they are better than anything I have used before, and I am actually quite experienced at resource editing using any number of tools (as Nova was a plug for over 18 months before it was EV3).
