How about a plug where there were people instead of ships? spobs could be buildings, ships could be people, background would be a ground texture, etc. It would be pretty cool, what does everybody think?

You can't do the background thing. Not without making the game crash.

Rather interesting, though I think I would stick with traditional plugin development.

And you know this because....... How have you played EVN?
You could do something like "Space Marines" (for Ares - hmm, not really a scenario, more like an enhancement, but the Ares people don't call them plug-ins. I wonder what you'd call that).

Yup 21st, thats what gave me the idea.
That's in EV/O. I remember reading that it is possible to change the background in EVN.

You can change the colour of the background, you cannot put a texture on it.

Just wait for Coldstone! EV is set for SPACE So just make one on Coldstone when it comes out, plus I think it'll look way cooler.

Yep, as Coldstone mod and beta tester, I can tell all of you that Coldstone is very cool.

Yah. For all things land-based, any EV engine, no matter how much you tweak with it will always kinda suck; Coldstone would be the way to go...
yeah, a guy Hyperspacing between towns would look pretty damn funny

Hmm. I assume stars will work the same way, right?
How would you change the color? Would there be a resource for a hexidecimal color thing?

Stars are handled differently. And yes, there is something similar to what you are suggesting in place. With the editors provided by R&R; though, you get a much nicer colour picker (I can't plug Dr Ralph enough)...
But it sounds like more fun to push the limits of EVN than use something for what it's designed for. I still have a bunch of projects I have already started, though.
