Has anyone had any success making three deminsonal human figures in Strata or Mechanisto? I want to make characters for my plugin, but I don't have the money for Poster, and all my attempts in strata come out looking like ballon animals. If anyone has some tips or advice, I would greatly apreciate it.

i know slug's made a human figure with strata... but otherwise, i think you'd need a program like Poser, or somthing high end (ie. Lightwave, Maya, etc)

Me too. And it was a while ago, so my Mechanisto skills weren't what they are now. I've been thinking about having another go at it: if I do anytime soon I'll let you know.
I would suggest taking art lessons on the human body... It's a hard thing to do... The proportions... Hell, it's hard just to draw one...

Tried it on Mechanisto awhile ago, but it looks like crap.

Well... It's a character isn't it?
(BTW, I made this model over a year ago and it is animatable

Poser 2 has been on the covers of magazines as a free program: You should be able to pick up a copy through back numbers at around 5 pounds (UK). This is the program I used for the original Frozen Heart people graphics (although the animations came in with Poser 3 - hey, you may even be able to get Poser 3 on a magazine cover).
Otherwise, there are plenty of people meshes you can download from here and there.

I have Poser 4, I'd be willing to make them for you although not without a ca$h offer, I'm too busy to give my services free.
