plug-in ideas 4 y'all

I had some ideas when playing, but lack the knowledge to do them myself. 😕 So I thought I'd share with others who might be able to do something with them. And maybe I'll one day get my ideas in plug-in form to play my dream game. 😄 Here are just a few.

  1. make it so I can own more than one ship at a time and control them all, including mission cargo in them all. That way I don't have to capture or hire to get a fleet. Kind of like a slave circut in some sci-fi stories. Or droid ships that obey the directions of the fleet flag ship.
2)sell empty hulls at fractions of the prices. So I can buy a luxery /sp 😕 / ship stripped and put in good engined and use it for a cargo hauler (it should have massive cargo space now that the inards are gone) and minimal armor and weapons capability. Ditto for other non-conventional ships. I mean what self respecting bounty hunter wouldn't want one of those embassitor shuttle things with top of the line engines armor and armed to the teeth. Or pirates for that matter, one of these is all you'd need to start building a pirate fleet.
  2. I wanna have a space station of my own. :frown: I mean think about it, for a huge amount of money you could have a base of operations. Then go around to bars in other systems looking for crew to man the station. Once you have that look for engineers to build a ship yard and others to build a market for trade. Then build a stripped down freighter with minimal engines and a ramscoop, then nothing but fuel tanks. I just floats around your system collecting fuel for your fleet or to sell. Now how about shuttles to mine asteroids for mineral wealth. Of course a defensive fleet around a station with fend off pirates, aliens and governments that want to eliminate the competition. Maybe building the stations in places with no stellar bodies will work but what about building on empty worlds?
  3. how about a disruptor weapon that doesn't destroy ships but just disables them. I mean come on, if your in a corvette and fighting a argosi, you can drop it's sheild and it can still jump to another system but if you attack again to disable you may blow it up. No new cargo, no new money, no more fuel and no new ship. An ion gun as a secondary would work. That is if some dorky rebel or conferate ship doesn't come along and 'help' by blasting it to dust.
  4. how about stripping captured ships? Who wouldn't want to strip off a rocket launcher from pirate ships to save some money and get 'free' upgrades.
  5. when hailing why not show a picture of the crew like star trek "on screen" communications. I also like the 3-d images for ship rather then the wire frames (actually it's 4-D cause it ocuppies time too but... )

...your amazing.
"No, I am better than that."

I believe all of these are impossible to achieve with an Escape Velocity or Override plugin; however, many of them at least resemble features of the EV Nova engine.

  1. A mission is another way to get escorts, but they only last for the mission, so the mission wouldn't end and they are a bit limited.

  2. You could just create another ship resource without the extra stuff and more space and sell that.

  3. You could dominate planets. EVN has a way to legally dominate planets. But EVN isn't released and EV wasn't designed to allow you to configure what planets do. The closest would be picking which missions to go onin the mission computer. These missions could be to asteroids that you could land on and back. They could even auto-abort and enable a mission bit to a ship that was designed by the plug-in developer, but the user got to pick.

  4. You can change any picture of any ship to any correct PICT resource.

  5. You could create another encrypted plug-in that changed the first system resource to something else and encrypt it with a password that would only be known after you do something in the game.

  6. This is possible with VisBits. You can change any system to a completely new system at the drop of a mission.

  7. You could make Quicktime movies and yes/no questions in mission dialogs, but not much more. If the planetary battles were similar to the current EV interface you could change the color of the stars and make the ships tanks or something.

  8. These are called outfits. Outfits can't be sold for different prices on different planets. If you made a copy that cost more then you wouldn't be able to exchange it from the first to the second planet. You could have missions in the mission computer instead of the outfit ship dialog and show movies when you first bought them, but no other time.

  1. I wanna have a space station of my own.

This is a brilliant idea, and it could be accomplished using visbits and special outfits and some special missions for hiring personnel and the like.

Look for it in Galaxy's Edge.

You can set Legal Status through missions, and, in fact, dominating a planet is just a matter of legal status (or, at least, it does funny things if you try to dominate a planet with a Dictator level legal status for that government).

Nice idea.

Check out F-25 2.0 in a few weeks for #3.It'll be more a matter of cost than dominating it, though...
