I'm just curious... looking at plugins with EV-Edit (long time ago) and MissionControl (while making Reign of the UE among other things), I noticed that you can make one of the requirements for a mission to be "dominated a stellar" or "dominated this stellar." In other words, you can get a mission only if you dominate that stellar or something. My question is, has anyone done it? You could do a "sell planet to government" (I've though of making a plugin where you can sell any (non-destructible) Renegade planet to any of the major governments_ or something or your planet's people ask you, their leader, to do something. So far I've nver seen any plugins doing this. ?Por que?

Yes, you can do all that and more. In fact, it's been done in several plugs (Remember the missions that say you have to dominate the planet? That's to set you up for the next mission which - you guessed it - requires a planet to be dominated).

I've done this in both Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale. Vincent Bernard does it in Battle Velocity and Oreste (same plugin, different versions).
The problem about using this feature is 'after dominating a planet, where can the plot go?' There's some clever programming and writing to be done in the future if people really want to exploit this one.

It was also done for ROTV II. I did it to make sure the player was attacking the right planet, giving him a fleet to fight, all the while still having two extra ship spots with which to send in other vessels.

I experiment a lot with plugs, seeing what I can make them do, but have never made anything for release to the public. One of the things I played with was that after you dominated a planet, you land there, and they're so scared of you they offer to give you ships for 1 year. Kind of like extra tribute. Anyway, these ships flyaround and act like your escorts for 1 year, and then they leave. @ That point you can return to the dominated planet and they give you more ships for another year. On the cool side, this allows you to get around the 6 escort limitation (I realized this when I had 6 escorts and accepted a mission to protect 3 ships on a cargo run), meaning you can get a full fleet. The bad thing is you become insanely powerful and the game becomes boring.
I'm not sure I even still have the plugin. I can look in my "pits and pieces" folder @ home and see.

this is somewhat tangential, and directed to Martin:
i recall that in Frozen Heart, some defense fleets would never appear (thus making it impossible to dominate the stellar). how did you do it?

this is a reply to astro's question. Generally, a fleet not occuring is a bug. The field controlling number of ships can be set to something completely absurd. The best way to do this is to use non-numerical symbols in the filed, something like 9@Y* (just don't start it with $, or EV might think it's a hex field)
Hopefully, EV Nova will fix this, or even allow an option for a planet to be non-dominatable.
In my opinion, every planet should have a working defese fleet. This makes it more fun for the player, even if it is almost impossible to dominate it (ie, Earth - it is possible for a fanatic like me :D)

One of the plugs I made (it might even be AEV, the only one I released) included a mission that only showed up on Confed planets, and only if you had dominated a planet (any planet). The basic gist of the mission is that the Confed knows you're there, and, because you dominated a planet, it thinks you're evil. Basically just an auto-aborting blocade mission.
