I am working on a plug at the moment which requires the player to start out with 20,000-50,000 cr (I haven't decided yet), and have no clue how., help would be appreciated.
Also, how would you make a weapon that while firing on shields would also cut down on armor?
Help would be appreciated greatly.

Your best bet for the first one would to make an auto-abort mission where the player starts that includes some forshadowing to the plot. You could make it something simple like "You walk into the bar and notice for the first time that you are wearing your pajama bottoms" or something (I don't know, you could think of something). Then, make it pay 10,000 to 40,000, depending on what you decide. That would give the player a little more money to start with, assuming they got the mission.
As for your second question, I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean that it would damage YOUR shields while it was fired on the enemy? If you wanted that, the only way I could see to do it would be to make the blast radius really big and then have the parent ship damaged that way.

No I mean that it damages the enemies armor, while it's taking down its shields.
Thanks for the idea of a really simple mission in the beginning, that's probably what I'll do.

You can do it in EV3 but not easily in EV/EVO.

Not EASILY? You mean there's a way to do it at all?
You've got me...

Err... offhand I can't think of a way, but I was hedging my bets because people are always doing things with the game engine to surpise me.
Eventually, we'll reach a wall where we can't do anything more. Then we'll need to stand on EV3 to climb over it
Wish someone would figure out how to add micromanagement (outfitting yer fleet? yeeha!) in for a plug, hehe
