Has anyone else experience trouble using EV-Edit? When I try to create a person, the editor crashes. Also, EV Edit does not save my starmaps. Can anyone help me with this problem?

EV Edit is famous for being the buggiest editor on the face of the Earth. I suggest you take a look at other plug development tools.

Are you using the most recent edition? Earlier versions gave me much trouble (especially when it came to working with systems), but I have been quite satisfied with version 3.3.2. Just remember to keep backups (but then, you should do that anyway). You may find the latest EV-Edit here: (url="http://"http://members.aol.com/burgr/evedit.html")http://members.aol.c...rgr/evedit.html(/url) .
For working with përs, I'd suggest using Schmelta-V, available somewhere in the EV-Addons area.

I've recently downloaded 3.3.2, but of course i was afraid to entrust my TC to it at all. Have you experienced any probs in system editing at all?

With 3.3.2: I can say with pleasure that I've had no worries re system editing. (Nothing's foolproof, of courselast night Schmelta-V hung up on me, and that hardly ever happens.) With the reminder to make a backup before doing any workwith that program or any otherI'd say go ahead.

That title is now held my R&R;'s Mission Control. Its still a beta, though, so I hope it will be fixed soon....

For gövts and oütf (or maybe öutf, I don't know) use gövt editor and oütf editor, both avaliable in EVO utilities. They send back res-edit to stone-age and EV-edit to bug-age!

They are ResEdit.
A prefect example of how expandable and great ResEdit is.

Mission control may be buggy, but it's still better then doing missions by hand in ResEdit. And the bugs are nothing major, and it's free

The only editor that is prety much bug free is The EVO Developer's Map by Pontus. I highly suggest this utility, I've tried and had problems with every other plug editory but this one. Unfortunately us poor developers have a serious setback - it's very hard to test a program for logic errors on your own. Runtime and syntax errors are easy, but logic errors are very difficult to find without using the time consuming method of using test data.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE submit bug reports otherwise we can't fix em!! The Docks has been released for a month, and no one has complained about any problems in the final release - am I to assume that I got it right???

My computer has similar problems except it usually crashes when I edit the map and planets. I have good reason to say that this is because my computer is outdated and currently (Right now) it can't find the hard-drive. My computer was a bad model to begin with and has had a complete meltdown. We got it fixed and now it can't find the hard-drive. I currently have OS7.5.5 on my computer. I don't know if anyone has a computer that causes as much trouble as mine has so far. :frown: If your computer is worse, then you might want to post it. Can anybody relate.

Well, mate, I downloaded EVO God, and:
When you enter a number for the sound, and get out of the page, and reload the same weapon again, the sound munber has moved up one. ie:
Rocket Sound: 201 Rocket Sound when loaded again: 200
See?
Apart from that, there are very few bugs in your little toy. Good luck. ~Gav

I do hope you all know the difference between a bug and something that causes the computer to crash. A bug could be a simple cosmetic error or unimplemented feature.
Though to say Mission Control is pretty buggy those are fair grounds to judge it by, though, I have not yet experienced a crash using Mission Control and I'm up to 50 missions!

Fair comment. We will be revisiting and revising Mission Control once we are finished with our NovaTools project. It was lways labelled beta software for a good reason, and we have only temporarily stopped workign on it because the need for EVN tools was greater.
Most of the serious bugs in Mission Control arise from editing plugins no created with Mission Control, with some bad cases of resource ID conflicts. We will try to address this better with the next versions.

And if you need suggestions and I'm still using your program I will be more than willing to oblige.
